Scope

Under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, the intern will support the implementation of the violence programme in all settings especially schools including the C4D component and assist in the production of advocacy material and Knowledge management products.

Methodology

The intern is expected to contribute to the national EndViolence Programme planning, implementation, monitoring evaluation and the administration of program/project activities related to UNICEF’s support.   Overall, the candidate is expected to contribute to the production of policy briefs, and to provide technical assistance to reviewing research and programme documents. Supervision and guidance will be provided on a day-to-day basis, and regular meetings will be organized to provide guidance and advice, if necessary. The intern will be exposed to learning and personal development opportunities within UNICEF and with the partners including humanitarian response.

Work assignment

The intern is expected to assist with the following:

  • Contribute to assessments and generate knowledge/evidence, inductions & logistics.
  • Support in data analysis & data visualization exercises.
  • Contribute in producing relevant fact sheets, briefing notes and reports, in addition to needed researches.
  • Support the implementation of the EndViolence in schools and C4D components.
  • Update specific advocacy messages on key UNICEF Jordan protection issues in consultations with C4D Specialist.
  • Coordinate with the communications section to disseminate research findings and KM products.

Candidate qualification

  • be enrolled in a degree programme in a undergraduate or graduate school, or be a recent graduate (University degree preferably in Human rights, Social Sciences, Political Science).
  • Experience working in a relevant protection sector.
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of Arabic is an asset
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • have strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records or, if not available, a reference letter from an academic supervisor
  • have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister, uncle or aunt) working in any UNICEF office.

  Estimated duration of the internship:

Mid-February – Mid-August 2019 (six months)
