The Emergency WASH specialist will be under the overall guidance of the Emergency Coordinator and technical supervision of Chief WASH who is accountable for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of UNICEF’s WASH emergency response. The emergency specialist will oversee activities and results related to safeguard and improve public health of the affected population by ensuring access to safe and climate resilient drinking water, excreta disposal and promoting safe hygiene practices, ensuring overall efficiency, effectiveness, and delivery of results in accordance with UNICEF’s Core Commitment for Children in Emergencies (CCCs) and national and international humanitarian standards. The Specialist will especially ensure close follow up of WASH infrastructure (contracts) and soft activities from design to implementation and commissioning.
