The Environmental and Social Safeguarding Officer reports to the WASH Specialist for guidance and general supervision.
He/she will ensure that the activity complies with the project's environmental and social risk management framework documents.
He/she supports the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH programme within the framework of the country programme in the areas of intervention of WASH Madagascar.
He/she provides technical advice and management support throughout the programming processes in order to facilitate the administration and achievement of the programme's results. WASH-related products in the country programme.
Specifically, and in accordance with the safeguarding instruments described above, he or she is called upon to integrate the management of environmental risks and effects into all phases of the execution of the various activities or sub-projects related to the different components.
The international consultant/contractor supports the Madagascar Country Office in producing a Climate Landscape Analysis for Children (CLAC) and provide direction and support to the country office to programme its recommendations. S/he will be responsible for collecting, compiling and reviewing key resources and coordinating the information gathering and review processes. In addition, the incumbent will also provide overall support in preparing the study by researching specific issues and drafting individual sections. If needed, the incumbent will liaise with the climate, energy and environment teams in ESARO and HQ/NY for support, feedback and coordination.
