Working under the supervision of the Mali County Office Communication Specialist coordinating the PAFEEM communication work, the Communication Officer will develop and deliver on a strategic approach for communication and visibility of the component 3 of the PAFEEM project implemented by UNICEF “Support for income-generating activities and job creation”.
The purpose of this LTA is to provide support to the Quality Assurance process of UNICEF managed evaluations, assisting ESAR Regional Office and Country Offices to ensure that evaluations in the region meet the highest quality and ethical standards. In particular, it will support a more efficient and regionalized production of high-quality evidence that will feed into UNICEF programming and advocacy efforts, supporting the decision-makers to make informed choices and plan strategically. BACKGROUND / RATIONALE
The world is seeing an increased frequency of disease outbreaks since COVID-19. Kenya has experienced recent outbreak of diseases including Polio, Mpox, Cholera, Measles, Yellow Fever, Rift Valley Fever, and Malaria. Kenya is also on high-alert due to outbreak in its neighboring countries including Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) Influx of migrant and refugee population from the neighboring counties, high volume of international trade and transport, and lack of access to clean water and sanitation system in parts of the country make Kenya particularly prone to the outbreaks.
Since the issuance of COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan Operational Planning Guideline (2021), WHO identified Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and infodemic management as the key pillar of essential actions to prevent and contain infectious diseases. From timely communication of outbreaks and risks to community engagement to accept public health measures, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) interventions are central to the prevention and containment of disease outbreaks.
