To strengthen risk management and implementing partnership practices across UNICEF’s MENA region by advancing the sanctions workstream, developing practical compliance and audit-informed guidance, supporting engagement with Supreme Audit Institutions, and strengthening country office delegated authority frameworks. The consultant will
work closely with the Risk Management Unit to ensure that country offices are equipped to meet evolving compliance requirements and audit expectations, manage sanctions-related risks through appropriate guidance and tools, and apply a consistent and risk-informed framework for SAI engagement where applicable.
Under the leadership of the Unit Chief and Senior Advisor, Nutrition Data, in the Data and Analytics Section and the Senior Nutrition Advisor, Child Nutrition and Development in Emergencies in Nairobi, this role will be the focal point for UNICEF’s global engagement on nutrition risk assessment, strengthening the use of nutrition data in emergency, supporting country teams to estimate the number of children at risk of wasting in humanitarian contexts, and enhancing UNICEF engagement in critical global food security initiatives (such as Integrated Phase Classification (IPC).
This consultancy is designed to establish a structured supervisory framework that strengthens both the capacity and the professional oversight of social workers. Under the supervision of the Representative, the Communication Specialist is accountable for developing, managing, co-ordinating, networking, implementing and monitoring an advocacy and communication strategy and associated products and activities on on-going basis with public audiences, with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for children’s and women’s rights, and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities and programmes in the country office/regional office/media hub, and at a global level and those of the UN Country Team.

Since 2015, the Digital Engagement and Protection (DEP) Unit has designed and led primary data collection efforts around the world to understand the risks and opportunities children face online. The current portfolio of work involves research in more than 40 countries, primarily in low- and middle-income countries, through our Global Kids Online and Disrupting Harm research projects.The unit is seeking to recruit a Research Specialist to lead the inception phase of a new longitudinal mixed-methods study in the UK, working closely with the Programme Specialist (Digital) and Research Manager (Digital). This includes research design, defining the implementation strategy, identifying key partners, identifying ethical and safeguarding considerations and mitigation strategies, in collaboration with and supported by the project team.
