One of the key areas of UNICEF support to the education sector is Data Systems for Decision-Making, which aims to strengthen evidence-based planning, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation within the Directorate of Primary Education
(DPE). The focus is to ensure that accurate, reliable, and timely data is accessible and effectively utilized for informed
decision-making across the education system. Major interventions include strengthening information systems through
database integration and reduction of duplication, enhancing e-Monitoring and reporting mechanisms, updating the
Annual Primary School Statistics (APSS) tools, developing dynamic dashboards, and building institutional capacities of
relevant divisions. The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Division and Information Management Division (IMD) play central
roles in managing education data systems, while key platforms include the APSS, Integrated Primary Education
Management Information System (IPEMIS), and Annual Sector Performance Report (ASPR). Through the current Rolling
Work Plan (RWP), UNICEF is providing technical assistance to strengthen education data analysis, reporting, evidence
generation, institutional capacity, and data-driven decision-making processes within DPE
