The purpose of this consultancy is to provide targeted, time-bound technical support to strengthen UNICEF Ethiopia’s humanitarian planning, coordination, and operational capacities. Under the supervision of the Chief of Emergency and Field Operations Unit, the consultant will provide technical leadership and operational support to strengthen UNICEF Ethiopia’s humanitarian planning, coordination, and preparedness capacities. The consultant will also play a key role in enhancing donor engagement, private-sector outreach, and visibility efforts to help mobilize resources for the significant unmet needs of children and women across Ethiopia.
The consultant will provide technical support to strengthen advocacy, coordination, and knowledge exchange on foundational learning across the SADC region. Working under UNICEF’s technical guidance and the day‑to‑day oversight of the SADC Secretariat, the consultant will help reinforce regional momentum and coherence by aligning efforts with SADC mandates and continental education frameworks. The role will enhance linkages between SADC, Member States, and ongoing continental initiatives to advance equitable, quality learning outcomes.
This consultancy is an opportunity to support the development of EOF’s data science platform by contributing to data management, advanced analytics and visualization. The consultant will onboard, structure and maintain datasets within the Azure environment, source new data, and support system permissions. Using Python, Databricks and machine learning libraries, the role involves cleaning, analyzing and modelling data, as well as iterating coding and analytics infrastructure. The consultant will also help develop compelling visualizations, explore third‑party tools, and collaborate with the wider EOF team to refine data products. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging AI and data science for impact.
