The Chief, Nutrition reports to the Representative or Deputy Representative for general guidance and direction. The Chief is responsible for managing and supervising all stages of the nutrition programme, from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of results. The Chief is also responsible for leading and managing the Nutrition team. The Chief is accountable for ensuring that concrete and sustainable results in maternal, infant and child nutrition programmes are achieved in accordance with plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.
Guinea continues to face persistent nutrition challenges, including high levels of stunting (30%), wasting (7%), and micronutrient deficiencies among children under 5 and women of reproductive age. The nutrition situation is exacerbated by food insecurity, inadequate infant and young child feeding practices, limited access to nutrition services, and recurrent health and environmental emergencies.
The GSSC`s Finance and Master Data Management department offers opportunities for talented students and recent graduates to gain professional experience and greater familiarity with UNICEF’s core values while being exposed to the work of UNICEF and the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC).
Interns will learn about the various business processes performed as well as about UNICEF’s mission and programs. This role will further develop analytical and transactional skills while allowing participation in project work and providing support to senior colleagues. Interns will also perform ad hoc administrative tasks, analysis, coordination and support functions of the overall Finance and MDM team.
