The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer reports to the Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist for supervision. The Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout monitoring, evaluation process preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative tasks to contribute to evaluation planning, implementation, oversight and reporting to ensure that evaluations are carried out according to schedule and that results and recommendations are implemented and followed up.

This consultancy will accelerate preparatory work for the initiative’s formal launch at the African Union (AU) Heads of State Summit, ensuring alignment with continental priorities and UNICEF’s strategic goals.
The consultant will help GenU to finalize baseline data for the EmPowerHer Africa Initiative implementation; Secure AU collaboration for EmPowerHer’s Africa summit launch; Establish Heads of State Leadership Council and Align UNICEF country offices on initiative rollout.
UNICEF will draft a report (7200 words limit) on the follow-up to the outcome of the special session of the General Assembly on children in 2026 with highlights of the steps taken in 2024 and 2025 and gaps in achievement and strategic shifts necessary to improve the situation of children towards a world fit for children.
The consultant will support preparation and drafting process, including liaison with the contributing divisions and partners, synthesize of the received inputs and development of the first and final draft of the report.
Under direct supervision of the Chief of Strategic Planning and Corporate Analysis, the consultant will be closely involved in the development of the EDAR document package. As a writer and editor, the consultant will engage in synthesizing information from multiple sources, collaborating with contributing organizational units, and drafting and editing of the documents.
