The Child Protection Officer reports to the Chief of Field Office for supervision. The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results. H/She prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

The Child Protection Specialist reports to the Chief, Child Protection for guidance and general supervision. The Specialist supports the development and preparation of the Child Protection programme(s) in general and those related to the elimination of traditional practices harmful and adolescent girls’ empowerment, in line with UNICEF’s Strategic Plan, the UNICEF Niger Country Programme Document and the Child Protection section’s annual work plan. S/he is responsible for the management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of the child protection programme component related to child marriage within the country programme. S/he is also responsible for advancing programmatic priorities in relation to adolescent girls, in close collaboration with other sections. The Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes. H/She facilitates the administration and achievement of concrete and sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to create a protective environment for children against all harm, and to protect their rights to survival, development and well-being as established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, international treaties/frameworks and UN intergovernmental bodies.
The Specialist contributes to the achievement of results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework.
