Working under the supervision of the Regional Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programme Specialist and in collaboration with the Regional MHPSS Technical Working Group (TWG) members, the consultant will use data available from various sources to undertake a comprehensive desk/literature review and then develop a series of study questions to be able to gather additional insights. Through different approaches including key informant interviews with relevant stakeholders and undertaking innovative approaches e.g social listening/mining, using data from Child Helplines supported by UNICEF etc, the consultant will provide an overall regional understanding of the drivers and potential protective factors for adolescent suicide to inform suicide prevention strategies for adolescents and young people (10-19 year olds).
Under the supervision of the Adolescent Development Specialist, Gender and Adolescent Section, the consultant will lead the design and delivery of a participatory foresight consultation process with adolescents and youth across the Eastern and Southern Africa Region. The purpose of this assignment is to develop a forward-looking Girls and Youth Vision Paper that reflects the perspectives, priorities, and aspirations of young people (ages 10–24) to inform the next Regional Office Management Plan (ROMP).
This consultancy aims to strengthen UNICEF’s capacity to deliver effective education in emergencies (EiE) responses, ensuring the continuation of learning for crisis-affected children. The consultant will support emergency preparedness, response, and recovery efforts through regular deployments, while also contributing to the EiE program at the HQ and global levels, especially by supporting integration of EiE into national education systems to enhance resilience and long-term sustainability.

This consultancy will support the Ministry of Education to develop a national Education Strategy, and a corresponding Action Plan aimed at fostering the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem and enhancing digital skills and competences for the digital transformation in education. This will include support in preparing strategic document on digital education covering key enabling factors, including infrastructure and connectivity, access to high-speed internet and digital tools, and the enhancement of teachers' digital skills through continuous professional development. It will also promote inclusion and accessibility.
