Nigeria country office is seeking for Construction Officer to provide support to the supervisors successfully plan and monitor construction activities for UNICEF programme/ Operations and directly impact on programmatic goals and results for children. This in turn contributes to maintaining/ enhancing the credibility of UNICEF as an effective and responsible manager of funds entrusted to the organization and to furthering UNICEF image as a competent organization for delivering cost effective and sustainable programme results for children.
Under the guidance of the Emergency Specialist, Standby Arrangements, Emergency Officer will manage and strengthen UNICEF’s engagement with organizations that collaborate as ‘standby partners’ to enable UNICEF to provide adequate, effective and efficient deployment of human resources in situations and frontline service delivery capacity in emergencies.
The consultant will play a critical role in supporting UNICEF’s WASH programming in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. The consultant will focus on coordinating donor relations, mobilizing resources, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. As part of government's efforts to rehabilitate water, wastewater, and heating systems in a city with 700,000 residents, the coordinator will bridge communication between stakeholders, donors, and implementing partners. The consultant will ensure that financial and technical support from donors is optimally utilized to address critical infrastructure degradation, rising public health risks, and to maintain emergency services for vulnerable populations, especially children, affected by the ongoing war.
The purpose of this assignment is to provide expert technical support to strengthen water, wastewater, and district heating services in Kryvyi Rih, ensuring that children and families have reliable access to safe water and sanitation. Given the ongoing war in Ukraine and the destruction of critical infrastructure such as the Kakhovka dam, this assignment will focus on restoring deteriorating systems and mitigating public health risks from poor water quality and sewage treatment. The consultant will work closely with local utilities, including Kryvbass VodoKanal, and two heating service providers to enhance technical capacity and implement sustainable, long-term solutions. This will help address the urgent need for infrastructure rehabilitation, while aligning efforts with UNICEF's broader WASH program objectives of improving water and sanitation access for over 4.5 million people across affected areas.
The Consultant will support the ADAP section by strengthening data collection, analysis, and reporting mechanisms. This role is pivotal in ensuring that UNICEF’s interventions are monitored effectively, that outcomes are well-documented, and evidence-based approach to programming and advocacy efforts. The consultant will provide timely, accurate reporting on ADAP activities and support internal and external stakeholders by organizing, interpreting, and presenting data that reflects UNICEF’s commitment to youth development in Ukraine.
