The Caribbean is highly vulnerable to natural disasters and climate-related hazards that can disrupt education, damage school infrastructure, and affect learning continuity. To address these risks, CDEMA, with support from UNICEF, developed the online Safe Schools: Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience course to strengthen school safety and disaster preparedness among education professionals.
Building on the success of the online course, this initiative aims to develop a competency-based, face-to-face training programme that emphasizes practical skills, peer learning, and school-level action planning. The resulting training package will serve as a standardized regional resource that can be adapted and delivered by Ministries of Education and other institutions to strengthen the resilience and preparedness of education systems across the Caribbean.
This position is to work with the Health and Nutrition team (Goal Area 1) during approximately 10 months, to support the activities and strategies related to the promotion of healthy diets and the regulatory agenda on ultraprocessed foods, within the main working strategies at UNICEF Brazil: the UNICEF Seal, the Early Childhood Friendly Units initiative (UAPI) and Adolescent Friendly Units initiative (UAA). The work will contribute to the technical capacity of municipalities and health/education professionals and implementing partners on the achievement of nutrition indicators and results.
Assistance at the municipal and state levels across Brazil. The initiative will result in technical guidelines for the elaboration of contingency plans that can be tailored to the specific territorial risk profiles of different states and municipalities.
To strengthen information management, knowledge management, coordination, reporting, monitoring and evidence utilisation within the Ministry of Health RCCE Pillar, ensuring evidence informed and community centered approach to Ebola preparedness and response.
