The Caribbean region faces ongoing challenges in achieving universal access to safe and resilient WASH services. While basic coverage is generally high, significant gaps remain in rural areas, small island states, informal settlements, and vulnerable communities. Aging infrastructure, weak wastewater and fecal sludge management systems, limited financing, and fragmented governance continue to affect service quality, sustainability, and public health outcomes.
To address these challenges, stronger sector governance, sustainable financing, and institutional capacity are needed. UNICEF and its partners recognize that infrastructure investments alone are insufficient and emphasize the importance of strengthening human resources, sector leadership, climate-resilient planning, utility performance, and knowledge sharing. Regional cooperation, partnerships with academic institutions, and capacity-building initiatives are key to advancing resilient and safely managed WASH services across the Caribbean.
The communications Officer is responsible to develop and implement DFAM’s communication strategy, S/He reports on the divisional goals, objectives, results and priorities as well as supports the same for the Operations Community of Practice. The incumbent networks and collaborates closely with the DFAM senior management team to ensure continuity’s and relevance communication of key initiatives, preparing the relevant communication products and channel to reach the relevant audience. The incumbent will be responsible for multiple communications output, managing engagement strategies and content on DFAM’s digital channels.The impact of the role is significant to support the Division of Financial and Administrative Management’s and the Comptroller’s implementation of the divisional communication strategy as well as that of the global operations functions to ensure effective and timely communication of key initiatives, policies, procedures, and results. Inaccurate or delayed reporting could also impact the achievement of the goals and objectives of other UNICEF divisions relying on DFAM.

UNICEF Jakarta is looking for Programme Specialist (Gender and Disability Inclusion) to provide expert technical advice and operational support to country office colleagues and internal and external partners and stakeholders to ensure that gender, disability and adolescent development and participation established under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, international treaties/framework and UN intergovernmental bodies, are integrated in UNICEF’s advocacy, policies, programmes and humanitarian work. This is a Fixed-Term contract with duration of 2 years.
