UNICEF Papua New Guinea is seeking to recruit a driver at GS2 level for its Office in Port Moresby. This is a local position only nationals of Papua New Guinea will be considered, and the position is of temporary basis for an initial period of 1 year.
The Health Manager (MNCH) reports to the Chief of Health/Nutrition for general guidance and supervision. S/He is responsible for supporting the Chief in managing the health section and leading the management, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the MNCH and immunization programme within the country programme. S/He provides technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming process to facilitate the achievement of concrete and sustainable results, according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), organizational Strategic Plans and goals, standards of performance, and accountability framework.
Purpose for the job: This position is responsible for leading and coordinating UNICEF’s comprehensive and multisectoral MHPSS portfolio targeting children, adolescents and their caregivers, ensuring an integrated approach across diverse sectors such as Health, Child Protection, Social and Behavior Change, Education, ADAP, Communication, and Social Policy. The Health manager (MHPSS) ensures that MHPSS programming is implemented with strategic vision, unity, coherence and complementarity across sectors and in alignment with UNICEF’s standards of technical quality, accountability, and responsibility, fostering a cohesive and effective response across all sectors. Additionally, the Health manager (MHPSS) manages relationships with a broad spectrum of external stakeholders, including government agencies, the Mental health coordination Center of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, UN agencies, implementing partners, donors, the MHPSS Technical Working Group (TWG), academic and research institutions and other key stakeholders involved in MHPSS. This role ensures that external collaborations are aligned with UNICEF’s strategic objectives and sectoral agendas. As the staff in charge of leading and coordinating UNICEF MHPSS interventions, the health manager (MHPSS) guarantees that all partnerships and activities are cohesively linked and mutually reinforcing, fostering a holistic approach to mental health and psychosocial support. In this position, the Health Manager (MHPSS) advocates for a unified approach that effectively addresses the MHPSS needs of children, adolescents and their caregiversensuring that MHPSS initiatives are appropriately adapted to the complex and varied challenges faced in Ukraine.
