The overall purpose of this post is to lead the Health Section’s strategic and technical work on HSS/PHC and Immunization in line with UNICEF Strategic Plan in the context of primary health care, including institutionalization of community health and nutrition. S/he provides technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming process to facilitate the achievement of concrete and sustainable results, according to plans,
allocation, results-based management (RBM) approaches and methodology, organizational Strategic Plans and goals, standards of performance, and accountibility framework.
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Regional Health Adviser, the Senior Health Specialist –HSS-PHC and Immunization is responsible for positioning HSS/PHC and Immunization in the regional office and on UNICEF SA regional health agenda as a priority, seizing the opportunity of UNICEF commitment to revitalizing PHC and health systems strengthening.
Lead the development of Global Partnership for Education’s System Transformation (STG) application package for Guinea-Bissau in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Investigation (MENESIC) in consultation with the Education partners.
Accountable for professional technical contribution to project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration of Immunization (EPI) programme/project activities, including data analysis, programme support, delivery, progress reporting, and commitment for expansion of immunization coverage, as well as enhancement of teamwork and capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the work plan, aligned with country programme goals, objectives and strategy.
