Under the general guidance and supervision of UNICEF’s PPR Washington, DC Office Director (North America and IFIs Pillar), the Public Partnerships Specialist will provide support to position UNICEF as a partner of choice for the US Government, and to inform and educate the US Congress on UNICEF’s programmes, to help sustain support for UNICEF. In addition to US Congressional and Government engagement and team support, the Public Partnerships Specialist will provide support with external engagements across diverse stakeholders, including Member States, NGOs/think tanks and UN partners. The incumbent will liaise directly with: Congressional members and staff, Member States, UNICEF National Committee staff and other non-governmental partners, UN agencies, UNICEF Headquarter Divisions and UNICEF Field Offices.
Under the direct supervision of a Public Partnerships Specialist, North America team, PPR North America and IFIs Pillar (Washington DC) and in collaboration with colleagues from across the Programme Group’s (PG) Health Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Resilience (HEPR) team: the incumbent will deepen collaboration with key U.S. Government stakeholders, help to provide an interface for knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence within the scope of the assignment, ensure documentation of quality programming outputs in line with relevant agreement reporting requirements, and provide targeted support for senior staff operations and administrative support services. The role supports the effective movement, storage and delivery of supplies across the country programme and emergency response, including inbound shipment coordination, customs clearance, warehousing, inventory management, transport planning, last-mile distribution and logistics contract management. The Logistics Specialist works closely with supply, programme, operations, field office colleagues, government counterparts, implementing partners and service providers to ensure timely, efficient, accountable and fit-for-purpose logistics support for results for children
