UNICEF Mongolia Country Office is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Officer to provide technical and operational support in managing the country’s Procurement Services (PS) and supply systems strengthening portfolios. The Officer will also contribute to strengthening project management capacity for the effective planning and implementation of procurement projects across health, WASH and other sectors.
The Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo officially declared a new outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) affecting the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu, including the health zones of Mongbwalu, Rwampara, Bunia, and additional areas in North Kivu. National authorities, with the support of humanitarian partners, have activated emergency coordination and response mechanisms to contain the outbreak.
The epidemic is unfolding in a highly complex humanitarian context marked by insecurity, armed conflict, population displacement, and limited access to essential services. High population mobility overcrowded living conditions, and weak WASH infrastructure significantly increase the risk of healthcare-associated and community transmission.
The current outbreak involves a strain of Ebola virus, for which no approved vaccine is currently available. As a result, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) interventions represent one of the most critical pillars of the response, requiring rapid operational scale-up, strong coordination, and robust monitoring systems across all affected provinces.
In this context, UNICEF is supporting the Ministry of Health and the national IPC coordination mechanisms to strengthen the overall IPC/WASH response.
According to UNICEF Afghanistan MICS 2022-2023 data, 29.8 per cent of children aged 3-17 years have some type of functional difficulty.3 According to evidence, challenges in analysis and design of programmes for people and children with disabilities limited their access to services and equitable outcomes. A lack of specific indicators to track progress for people and children with disabilities hampers the ability to measure and prioritize their needs effectively.
This assessment is needed because children with disabilities in Afghanistan face heightened and often invisible barriers to accessing essential services, including health, nutrition, education, child protection, and social protection, particularly in a context of increasing poverty, displacement, and restrictions on participation. At the same time, disability data and systematic analysis remain limited, constraining evidence-based planning, equitable targeting, and accountability to Leave No One Behind commitments. By combining a situation analysis with an internal readiness assessment, UNICEF Afghanistan and partners will be better positioned to identify practical entry points for disability inclusion, strengthen program design and implementation, and ensure that interventions reach and benefit children with disabilities in a measurable and sustainable way.
UNICEF is seekingn for a Consultant who will help operationalise the Strategy across Asia by translating it into practical country and regional products. The work will align with the Strategy's three pillars: systems, policies and data; skills and pathways; and entrepreneurship, income and economic inclusion.
