The UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Office is hiring a Social Policy Officer at the NO-A level on a temporary appointment contract to be based in the Solomon Islands Field Office. Under the supervision of the Social Policy Specialist, the Social Policy Officer is accountable for providing technical support and assistance in all stages of social policy programming and related advocacy, from strategic planning and formulation to delivery of concrete and sustainable results.
The overall purpose of this position is to provide thought leadership, quality analytical guidance, oversight, quality assurance and technical support to the social protection agenda for UNICEF in the East and Southern Africa region, with strong links across the continent and global agendas. It is responsible for leading and overseeing regional and country level analysis and advocacy to promote development of national social protection systems and programmes. It contributes to global thinking and visibility on social protection development, including through analysis and advocacy. Strategic use of knowledge generation and fostering of technical and high-level networks to promote social protection is also key.
The Health Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the Health Programme within the Country Programme, from development planning to delivery of results, by preparing, executing, managing, and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, and evaluating and reporting of results.
The consultancy will enable the community of National Committees engaged on Local Governance programming, strengthen their child rights advocacy focus and further revitalize the community of child friendly local governments in National Committees countries and assist in organizing meetings, events and technical webinars, develop and promote additional tools (toolkits, strategic frameworks and guidance) to enhance the understanding and implementation of a child-friendly local governance approach that leads to strong and measurable results for children.
