UNICEF South Africa is hiring four (4) interns for a three-month period. The internships will be housed at the National Department of Health, Food Control Directorate in Pretoria.
The interns' tasks and deliverables will include briefing and consultative meetings with the technical managers within the Directorate and other stakeholders that the interns may be required to engage with.
In this role, the interns will work under the supervision of the UNICEF Nutrition Manager. This role presents a unique and significant opportunity for a qualified, motivated, and committed individual. The four interns will be expected to perform the function of Data Capturers to assist the Department of Health with capturing and collation of comments received on the
R3337 Draft Labelling Regulations.
They will be required to:
a) Create a database of all the commentators as a numerical index.
b) Assess and consider substantive comments on the R3337 Draft Labelling Regulations for capturing in the provided Template 1.
c) Collate substantive comments in line with the different sections of the R3337 Draft Labelling Regulations using the provided Template 2.
d) Capture and collate, according to sections of the draft regulations, questions received by commentators onto the provided Template 3.
e) Perform other tasks that may be required in relation to R3337 Draft Labelling Regulations.
Purpose of assignment
This internship offers a valuable opportunity for the intern to make a tangible contribution to social policy outcomes by assisting with the development of concrete products. It serves as a platform for exposure to the diverse aspects of UNICEF's social policy work, particularly in the East Asia and Pacific region, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the organization's efforts in these areas. The internship will support the overall functions of the Social Policy and Economic Analysis section, with a special focus on local governance and the Child-Friendly Cities initiatives in the region. At the beginning of the internship, a comprehensive work plan will be developed, alongside an agreement on formative objectives and the competencies expected to be gained, all with the support and, where possible, collaboration of the intern's academic institution.

2.To support children and young people to be climate and environmental champions by providing them with the skills, resources, and platforms to exercise their voice and build and scale solutions.
The Public Partnerships intern will work with the PPD team based in Washington DC, to deepen collaboration with key stakeholders and help to provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence within the scope of the assignment. The key result is to ensure greater visibility for UNICEF and influence in support of its mission.
The Division of Public Partnerships (PPD) works to strengthen UNICEF’s position as a partner of choice for children’s right among governments and public actors around the world. The intern will acquire direct practical experience in PPD Tokyo’s work and the United Nations system by supporting the office’s advocacy, communication and visibility activities under general guidance of the supervisor (Public Partnership Specialist).
Reporting to the Sr HIV/AIDS Advisor - Adolescents, and in collaboration with key business units across UNICEF NYHQ and multiple Regional Offices, the intern recruited to this position will work within the HIV Section in UNICEF Health Programmes. The role will support knowledge work onthe mainstreaming of evidence-informed programming guidance on what works for the holistic wellbeing of adolescent and young key populations, building on the perspectives and innate knowledge emerging from the networks.
The purpose of this internship is to support UNICEF’s work to improve child protection programming for children with disabilities. The individual will be responsible for supporting programme oversight of our partnership with local and international organizations supporting people with disabilities.
