Under the general guidance of the Communications Manager Supporter Content, the role will focus on supporting the production of global virtual donor experiences (VDEs) and bespoke virtual donor experiences in close collaboration with the High Value Engagement Task Force as well as the Communications 4 Partnerships team as well as other PFP teams.  

These online engagement events allow donors to experience the impact UNICEF’s work is having on the lives of children. The VDEs are live, interactive, and compelling, where we use digital technologies to bring to life the work UNICEF is doing in emergency and non-emergency contexts. They allow supporters to connect directly with experts and UNICEF staff in the field.  

The role forms part of UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) and aims to strengthen UNICEF’s position in a competitive fundraising environment by bringing donors closer to our work in programme countries, helping to develop new and existing partnerships, and ultimately drive increases in income and influence. 

The role will work collaboratively with stakeholders to conceptualize, plan, produce, coordinate all production aspects of the live events to ensure smooth and efficient running of the events/experiences.  

How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:  

- Driving the coordination between the Supporter Content Team, PFP stakeholders such as the High Value Engagement Taskforce, Comms 4 Partnership team as well as key partners to: 

  1. Develop a project plan for the year and adjust depending on changing world events, trends and strategy 

  2. Coordinate key dates and information to ensure efficient delivery of the events/experiences – this includes a project plan, booking speakers, crossing, rehearsals, and the event dates.  

- Facilitating the elements of the production of each VDE (usually between 30min - 1 hour live online zoom event) in close collaboration with the producer and fundraising channel leads and other stakeholders to:  

  1. ensure the concept and key messages are realized (emergencies and non-emergency related) 

  2. invites and pre-reading material is supplied timeously 

  3. zoom links are organized and shared 

  4. schedule and organize rehearsal times, coordination of interpreters, guests 

  5. all post production material is supplied swiftly to fundraising leads to disseminate 

- Under the guidance of the Producer, coordinate VDE capacity building activities such as: 

  1. Providing links and resources to national committees and country and regional offices wishing to produce their own VDEs and support 

  2. Support the producer with training webinars sessions with natcoms and COs/Ros   

- Support the content management of the VDE Hub by: 

  1. content (invites, updates, videos) are uploaded to the VDE Sharepoint Hub 

  2. managing content related queries 

- Perform other related tasks which may be assigned in relation VDE production management. 

- The role will follow the technical and ethical guidelines of UNICEF.

WORK ASSIGNMENT – DELIVERABLES 

The expected deliverables by the end of each month from July 2023 to June 2024 (12 Months): 

Deliverable 1: Develop a short (1 page) production plan for all VDE activities and update it throughout. 

Deliverable 2: Draft up to 14 sets of meeting minutes/summary documents (less than 1 page each) for all meetings (est. 14 meetings) and share with stakeholders timeously. And document all inputs for Producer with action plan to incorporate into the planning of the scheduled VDES. 

Deliverable 3: Support production of est. 1 global and 1 bespoke VDE by: 

  • writing, distributing invitations (1 to 2 per VDE). 

  • Support producer with script development (sourcing facts, information, updating timings and details of guests). 

  • coordinate guest bookings and crossings – up to 6 per VDE. 

  • coordinate post-production materials: est 4 profile stories, 1xphoto loop, 2X explainers ensuring approvals, uploads timeously for use on the VDEs. 

  • coordinate rehearsals of crossings (up to 6) and full show rehearsal (up to3), live interpretation (est 5 per VDE). 

  • Share content links to stakeholders timeously after VDEs. 

  • answer est 5 query emails and take up to 5 calls by Natcoms or COs relating to how to produce VDEs. 

Deliverable 4: Participate and contribute to est. 7 calls and draft and share up to 7 summary documents with relevant teams.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education: 

  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in one of the following fields is required: Marketing, Communications, the Humanities, Fundraising, Business Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, journalism, or another relevant technical field. 

  • Any other additional training in a related field is an asset. 

Experience: 

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in project management, online event, production or broadcast audio/visual production management is required. 

  • Experience in broadcast production management particularly in high-pressure environments is desired 

  • Experience in the NGO sector / UN is desired. 

  • Excellent communication skills including speaking and writing are an asset.  

  • Experience in working with creative teams or agencies and sound understanding of the creative process is an asset. 

  • UNICEF's experience is an asset. 

Language: 

  • Fluency in English is required. knowledge of another UN working language is an asset.

Remarks:  

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.   

Payment of professional fees will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
