The supporter content team in the Marketing and PR Services section at UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnership (PFP) division seeks the services of experienced, creative, skilled, multi-talented video editors to support on a variety of content production needs.  

The consultants will work across a spectrum of private sector content needs including the production of compelling content during emergencies, in particular sudden onset emergencies which require a quick turnaround of material for multiple audiences. It also includes content and services that support the engagement of high value donors (corporates, major donors etc) for the acquisition and stewardship, and content creation and production support and services for PFP’s global and bespoke virtual donor experiences – engaging and interactive online live or pre-recorded television-like productions aimed that showcase UNICEF’s work for children around the world.   

How can you make a difference? 

To meet the growing need for compelling content that drives private sector engagement, UNICEF PFP would like to engage the services of talented and versatile video editors to support the production of compelling content to engage supporters in fundraising markets during emergencies as well as for virtual donor experiences/events and to support the acquisition and stewardship of UNICEF’s high-value audiences (corporates, major donors, etc) during emergencies and non-emergency situations. 

This can include remote directing or working with other colleagues collaboratively to produce content, creative conceptualization, scripting, video editing, basic motion graphics, and technical support during live online donor events/experiences. 

OBJECTIVE(S)  

The overall objective is to set up a Long-Term Agreement to facilitate and expedite the process by which the supporter content team will hire video editors as required for specific projects to develop content during emergencies and for high-value audience communications and engagement that demonstrate UNICEF's impact globally and supports fundraising efforts for UNICEF’s programmes. 

MAJOR TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED  

Successful consultants must provide professionally produced assets tailored for private sector audiences to engage them deeply and ultimately to support children (e.g. during sudden onset emergencies, virtual donor experiences, and high-value stewardship content that shows the important role of private sector partnerships). 

Tasks include, but may not be limited to: 

  • Production of high-quality multimedia assets, including human interest stories, narrative content, explainers, montage pieces, thank you videos, impact stories for emergencies, high-value needs, and private sector engagement activities such as virtual donor experiences (e.g. profile stories, b-roll, impact stories, photo loops) 

  • Production support for live or prerecorded online/ virtual events and experiences for private sector audiences by supporting the producer to preparing and package content, and other production needs  

  • Contribute to the briefing of in-country videographers, creatives as needed, and contribute to project team brainstorms and creative ideation as needed 

  • Creating and delivering basic motion graphics for various media 

  • Work in close coordination (where required) with PFP teams, HQ and Country Office counterparts to help capture relevant, powerful stories for private sector audiences. 

  • Review, edit, and consolidate the material, ensuring clarity and continuity of structure and core themes. 

  • Check spelling, country, and city names and acronyms and other abbreviations (making sure that they follow official UNICEF terminology and conventions), style consistency and Brand Toolkit 

  • Ensure all paperwork, including shotlists, scripts are provided according to UNICEF’s standards 

  • Ensure implementation of the UNICEF workflows and production toolkits 

  • Be available for several rounds of editing. 

  • Deliver on tight, short timelines as needed 

  • Production of b-roll suitable to broadcast media and with detailed shotlists 

  • Edited materials suitable and tailored to trends specific to individual platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram reels, etc. 

Responsibilities of the Consultant:  

  • The consultant will use their own equipment; camera, microphones, software and other accessories that may be required. 

  • The consultant will not give the content/material or any part thereof, to any third party without the written permission of UNICEF. All components will be a property of UNICEF, and the consultant will not share the same with anyone else. 

  • The consultant will not put their own name or logo/emblem on the content / final product. The only organization branding will be UNICEF, if required. 

Responsibilities of UNICEF:  

  • UNICEF will provide all details pertaining to the activity and the requirements 

  • UNICEF will orient the consultant on UNICEF’s branding and production guidelines 

DELIVERABLES

Video Editing

  1. Professional video editing of videos (usually between 2-3min each, and occasionally 5 min versions for YouTube or other purposes) for multiple platforms such as Linked In and other social media platforms, personalized donor messages, and others 

  1. Creative graphics treatments including some basic motion graphics 

  1. Submission of assets in all formats applicable to PFP’s audience specification (16x9,9x16,1x1) 

  1. Shotlists and scripts 

  1. International versions of all projects 

  1. Graphics and subtitles in English and one other UN language 

  1. On occasion support in compiling multimedia (mainly video) products for platforms such as Shorthand 

TRAVEL (OPTIONAL) 

No travel is envisaged for this consultancy. However, if there is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis, this will be covered separately by UNICEF and not included in the lump sum fee.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education: 

  • A first level university degree (bachelor’s degree or higher) in one of the following fields is required: in Communications, Literature, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Social Sciences or other related fields is required.  

  • Any other additional training in a related field is an asset. 

Experience: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work experience as a video editor with leading brands or international agencies is required.  

  • Experience in editing industry standard software such in Adobe Premier, final cut etc is a requirement. 

  • Demonstrated experience creating basic motion graphics is desirable 

  • Experience colour grading projects for applicable media channels is desirable 

  • Demonstrated experience video editing to highest industry standards for format, style, messaging, etc is desirable 

  • Experience working with UN agencies, UNICEF, and/or NGOs is desirable 

  • Experience in developing video assets for private sector donors is desirable 

Language: 

  • Fluency of English is required. Knowledge of another UN working language is an asset  

Others: 

  • Demonstrated imagination, innovation and creativity in editing productions is desirable 

  • Ability to develop multi-media material on a quick turnaround, under tight and variable deadlines is desirable 

  • Ability to create subtitles and text-based graphics in multiple languages is desirable 

  • Be well-informed about international current events is desirable
