Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

UNICEF Regional Office request for a simultaneous translation from English to French and vice versa during the Regional Management Meeting.

How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:

  • As part of the various meetings organized by WCAR Management and/or the PMDR section, it is planned to recruit interpreters on a regular basis according to needs and their availability; to count on at least 2 to 4 interpreters upon request.
  • It will be in a small team (2 interpreters) and the duration will be specified according to the needs of the meetings by email and phone.
  • It is preferable for the service to be onsite or exceptionally virtual. Depending on the meeting, Interpretation services will be done through an interpretation cabin or online interpretation platform.
  • for presential interpretation services, a computer and headset will be provided to the consultant
  • After each meeting, payment will be made after a partial evaluation and at the end of the contract after the final evaluation.
  • Confirmed meeting as of today is : The Regional Management Meeting (RMT), from 7th to 9th October 2025, 3 days:
  • This can also apply to the Hight level meetings that will be scheduled in 2026:
  • The consultant must be present at the hotel at 8:00 a.m. on each of the three days
  • After the meeting, payment will be made after evaluation.

Education:

  • An advanced degree in a relevant field

Work Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional work experience in interpretation in international development. This includes three years of interpretation experience during high-level meetings such as the RMT.
  • Fluency in English and French is required.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

Government employees who are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government positions before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason. 

UNICEF does not charge a processing fee at any stage of its recruitment, selection, and hiring processes (i.e., application stage, interview stage, validation stage, or appointment and training). UNICEF will not ask for applicants’ bank account information.
