Purpose of Assignment

The consultant will support the development and configuration of DHIS2 Nutrition individual tracking indicators and their corresponding metadata package within the DHIS2 platform, including in-system metadata descriptions and configuration notes. The assignment will focus on ensuring full integrity between the approved functional design (guide) and its technical implementation in DHIS2. The assignment will prioritize user-centered design, clear and structured metadata documentation, and pragmatic quality assurance (QA) of the DHIS2 configuration and programming to maximize usability, adoption, and sustainability of the DHIS2 NUT individual tracker.

Scope of Work

  • Provide technical inputs and compile DHIS2-embedded configuration documentation for NUT individual tracking indicators, including DHIS2 indicator definitions, metadata configuration, workflows, and considerations for country-level adaptation within the DHIS2 environment.
  • Support quality assurance of the DHIS2 configuration and programming process, ensuring alignment between the conceptual design (guide) and the implemented DHIS2 metadata package following field-based pilot testing.

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Information Systems, or related fields.

Work Experience:

  • At least 8 years of professional work experience related to DHIS2 programming including Tracker design (metadata, indicators, rules, analytics).
  • Experience leading multi-stakeholder consultations and synthesizing feedback.
  • Excellent technical documentation and preparation of publication-ready DHIS2 packages.

 Skills: 

  • Demonstrated in-depth familiarity with UNICEF guidance on routine nutrition indicators, including their systematic reporting through routine health information systems and the aggregated metadata package.
  • Ability to produce technical and functional guidance for longitudinal DHIS2 programs.
  • Solid understanding of nutrition information systems and related indicators/workflows.
  • Skilled in translating requirements into DHIS2 metadata packages and conducting metadata QA.
  • Knowledge of digital health standards, metadata governance, and interoperability.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple review cycles.
  • Strong communication skills.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English.

Desirables:

  • Nutrition-related expertise is a strong asset.
