Under the supervision of Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Specialist, the selected intern will play a vital role in the Social and Community Listening for disease outbreaks in Latin America and the Caribbean. Your main priority will be to support the team in generating insightful Social and Community Listening Reports for 9 countries. Your work will directly help make vital health and wellness information accessible to vulnerable communities on mobile devices, free of data charges.
How can you make a difference?
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Specialist, and will undertake the following tasks:
- Assist the regional team in monitoring online conversations (social media, news sites, forums) and offline community feedback to identify emerging themes, narratives, and rumors related to disease outbreaks.
- Support the collection, organization, and analysis of qualitative data to understand community beliefs, attitudes, and barriers to healthy behaviors.
- Contribute directly to the drafting and visualization of regular Social and Community Listening Reports, highlighting key insights and providing actionable recommendations.
- Help maintain a database of insights and trends to ensure our health strategies are evidence-based and responsive to community needs.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Have the following eligibility requirements.
- Current enrollment in a degree program (or a recent graduate within the last two years) in Public Health, Social Sciences (e.g., Anthropology, Sociology), Communications, International Development, or another relevant field.
- Experience or an academic background in qualitative or quantitative research, data analysis, or social media monitoring.
- Familiarity with public health emergencies and/or work experience in a developing country is considered a strong asset.
- Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Spanish is a valuable asset.
The following documents are required at onboarding stage:
- Letter of verification from the college or university that the intern is currently enrolled in an undergraduate school and has completed at least two years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of an undergraduate degree (if the candidate is 18 years old, this replaces the two-year bachelor’s completion requirement); or, Graduate Degree Program (i.e., Master’s, PhD). It should also state the expected graduation date. Recent graduates are allowed until 2 years after degree completion.
- Copy of their most recent official transcript showing excellent academic performance
- Copy of Identification Card (ID)
- One letter of signed recommendation on letterhead or from professional email address
- Certification of health insurance covering the full internship duration
