The Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has declared an outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease affecting Ituri and other affected or at-risk provinces. National authorities, with the support of humanitarian partners, have activated emergency coordination and response mechanisms to contain transmission and protect affected communities.
The outbreak is unfolding in a complex humanitarian environment marked by insecurity, population displacement, high mobility, constrained access to essential services and weak water, sanitation, hygiene and infection prevention and control systems. These conditions heighten the risk of transmission in health facilities and communities and require rapid, well-coordinated and technically rigorous WASH/IPC action.
The geographic expansion of the outbreak, the operational complexity of the response and the need to align interventions across national, provincial and health-zone levels require senior leadership. An experienced profile is therefore required to provide the strategic expertise, technical authority and convening capacity needed to lead UNICEF's WASH/IPC response and support Government-led coordination across affected and at-risk areas.

According to UNICEF Afghanistan MICS 2022-2023 data, 29.8 per cent of children aged 3-17 years have some type of functional difficulty.3 According to evidence, challenges in analysis and design of programmes for people and children with disabilities limited their access to services and equitable outcomes. A lack of specific indicators to track progress for people and children with disabilities hampers the ability to measure and prioritize their needs effectively.
This assessment is needed because children with disabilities in Afghanistan face heightened and often invisible barriers to accessing essential services, including health, nutrition, education, child protection, and social protection, particularly in a context of increasing poverty, displacement, and restrictions on participation. At the same time, disability data and systematic analysis remain limited, constraining evidence-based planning, equitable targeting, and accountability to Leave No One Behind commitments. By combining a situation analysis with an internal readiness assessment, UNICEF Afghanistan and partners will be better positioned to identify practical entry points for disability inclusion, strengthen program design and implementation, and ensure that interventions reach and benefit children with disabilities in a measurable and sustainable way.
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programmes, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life — in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions — her or his rights are violated.
UNICEF Ukraine is seeking a Construction Officer to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of infrastructure projects that contribute to improved services for children and communities. The incumbent will provide technical expertise in construction project management, support procurement and contract management processes, ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, and collaborate with government counterparts, contractors, and UNICEF programme teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to UNICEF’s mission by strengthening essential infrastructure in support of children’s rights and well-being.
UNICEF is working in an increasing number of fragile, violent and conflict-affected settings where children and communities face interconnected challenges, including conflict, displacement, climate shocks, poverty, weak governance and disrupted services. These pressures are straining national and local systems and limiting their ability to protect children and deliver essential services. This consultancy will support the development of a practical UNICEF strategy for engagement in these contexts, helping define UNICEF’s comparative advantage, strengthen the resilience of systems and communities, and promote more coherent, risk-informed and child-centered programming across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus. Drawing on evidence, country experience and existing UNICEF guidance, the assignment will produce a strategic framework to guide programming, advocacy, partnerships, resource mobilization and technical support in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
Incumbent will play a key role in supporting the implementation of risk informed project management approaches that are developed, given Afghanistan’s complex programming context and high-risk operating environment.
The consultant will provide technical leadership and coordination support for the implementation, monitoring, reporting, information management, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge management of UNICEF-supported DRR, EPR, SUPER, and Anticipatory Action initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs, strengthened partnerships, enhanced accountability, and evidence-based programme implementation across federal, provincial, and local levels.
Climate change is increasingly recognized by UNICEF as a major threat to children’s rights, well-being and development. Its impacts are often mediated through households, communities and essential services, and can affect children differently depending on age, health, disability, household circumstances and access to support. These impacts are also not gender-neutral.
The consultant will support the timely preparation, quality assurance and finalization of key partnership products, including an estimated 17 donor reports due by the end of December 2026, two annual reviews, donor engagement materials, funding proposals or concept notes, and related briefing and communication products for engagement with public and private sector partners, embassies and capital-level counterparts. The consultancy will also strengthen internal coordination by consolidating programme inputs, tracking reporting obligations and donor-specific requirements, supporting the 2027 reporting tracker and first-quarter reporting tools, and establishing a donor contact file to support accurate and well-documented partner engagement. By providing dedicated additional capacity for clearly defined outputs, the consultancy will enable UNICEF Ukraine to maintain timely, consistent and high-quality engagement with partners and stakeholders, while supporting effective stewardship of existing partnerships and the development of new funding opportunities.
Under the supervision of the Communication Officer (Brand Positioning), NO-2 and in close coordination with the fundraising team, the incumbent will contribute to advancing UNICEF Mexico's advocacy, brand positioning and fundraising objectives by supporting the development and coordination of integrated public-facing campaigns. Under the supervision of the Communication Officer, the intern will support the identification, collection, development and organization of human-interest stories and social media content that demonstrate UNICEF's programme results and amplify the voices of children, adolescents, families and communities.
The intern will work closely with the Communication and Advocacy Section and programme colleagues to transform programme information and field experiences into compelling, accurate and accessible stories for UNICEF's website, social media platforms, donor communications and other communication channels.
The internship will also provide practical professional experience in communication for development, digital storytelling, ethical reporting on children and results-based communications within a United Nations environment.
