Between December 2025 and mid-January 2026, Mozambique experienced severe flooding that affected more than 724,000 people across several provinces. Gaza Province was among the hardest hit, with extensive damage to water supply systems, contamination of more than 210 boreholes, and interruption of services for over 140,000 people. Sanitation systems were also affected, increasing risks of diarrheal diseases and suspected cholera.
The consultant will provide technical and operational support to UNICEF and Government partners to implement the WASH early recovery phase in flood-affected areas, with a focus on system assessment, prioritization, support to technical design, procurement, implementation support and coordination.
