| The primary assignment is to provide day-to-day guidance to Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) as it conducts this study ensuring that the quality of the output adheres to UNICEF’s minimum standards.
The consultant will work with KUHeS to collate an evidence base that will inform and strengthen integrated delivery models for COVID-19 vaccination into routine health services. |

| The incumbent will collaborate with key internal and external partners in formulating policy guidelines, defining quality and regulatory requirements and applying them to UNICEF procurement of in vitro diagnostics medical devices with a specific focus on Point of Care Diagnostics for children and emergency use in primary and community health settings.
The incumbent will use specialized commodity knowledge, in communication with counterparts in field offices and Programme Division, to establish technical specifications, standards and guidelines for laboratory and point of care diagnostic equipment and supplies requisitioned by UNICEF programmes, specialized UN agencies, governments and non-governmental organizations and will provide technical guidance and advice on the selection and use of these products to ensure availability and access to fit for purpose in vitro diagnostics. |

| The East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) Supply Specialist is based in Bangkok, Thailand and reports to the Regional Supply Specialist, supporting 14 Country Offices across East Asia Pacific (EAP) Region. The EAP Region is an emergency prone zone that includes both low- and middle-income countries and has a rapidly growing PSFR component. Consequently, emergency prepositioning and response, local procurement and the need for complex and high value institutional contracting arrangements are growing, all as important delivery modalities within Country Programmes in the region. With increasing government resources, the potential for UNICEF engagement in national supply chain support and Procurement Services is also a growing opportunity. In addition, given the very high exposure of countries in EAPR to climate related emergencies, it is critical the supply chains in the region become increasingly sustainable and resilient so that services to children can continue despite climatic shocks. |
