The UNICEF Startup Lab, implemented under the KOICA-UNICEF Accelerating Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Ghana initiative, is a six-month accelerator programme that supports technology-enabled social impact startups advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for children and young people in Ghana. To ensure continuity of the UNICEF Startup Lab programme and sustain its long-term impact beyond the current implementation phase, UNICEF is recruiting a national consultant to support the coordination, management, and strategic transition of the programme. The national consultant will play a key role in maintaining momentum of the Startup Lab’s activities, strengthening relationships with ecosystem stakeholders, and supporting the institutional transition of the Startup Lab into the Ghana-Korea Impact Centre of Excellence at the University of Ghana.
The Consultant will support the organization with the development of online learning courses and content related to prioritized projects in agreement with and under the management of the Talent Management unit.
The Caribbean region faces ongoing challenges in achieving universal access to safe and resilient WASH services. While basic coverage is generally high, significant gaps remain in rural areas, small island states, informal settlements, and vulnerable communities. Aging infrastructure, weak wastewater and fecal sludge management systems, limited financing, and fragmented governance continue to affect service quality, sustainability, and public health outcomes.
To address these challenges, stronger sector governance, sustainable financing, and institutional capacity are needed. UNICEF and its partners recognize that infrastructure investments alone are insufficient and emphasize the importance of strengthening human resources, sector leadership, climate-resilient planning, utility performance, and knowledge sharing. Regional cooperation, partnerships with academic institutions, and capacity-building initiatives are key to advancing resilient and safely managed WASH services across the Caribbean.
The Administrator WASH Officer reports to the WASH Specialist and provides technical, operational and administrative support for the planning, procurement, implementation and monitoring of WASH infrastructure interventions.
Education: Completion of secondary education. Technical or university courses in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or social science is desirable.*A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.Experience: At least 5 years of professional work experience in communications, administration, operations support or related fields. Demonstrated experience in budget monitoring, procurement administration, contract management, financial tracking, payment processing and expenditure reporting is required. Work experience in emergency and humanitarian contexts is desirable. Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish is required and basic level in English is desirable. Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) or a local language is an asset
The Urban WASH Officer reports to the WASH Specialist and provides technical, operational and field-level support for the implementation, monitoring and supervision of urban WASH recovery interventions in earthquake-affected areas.
To support UNICEF Venezuela and Ministry of Health counterparts in planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring integrated outreach and primary health care (PHC) activities for earthquake-affected populations in Caracas, La Guaira o Miranda, ensuring equitable access to essential health services and strengthening community engagement during the emergency response.
