For every child, a future

UNICEF has been present in Uruguay since 1992. Since then, it has provided technical cooperation and financial assistance to the Government and to the society in different areas to promote the rights of children and adolescents and generate opportunities for all of them to achieve the full development of their abilities. UNICEF work is based on a cooperation program that is agreed with the government every five years. A new cooperation program between UNICEF and Uruguay's Government started in March 2021.

 

UNICEF provides technical assistance and advice for monitoring, supporting and promoting children's rights on the following areas within the country:

  • Support policies to reduce levels of poverty affecting children with special focus on early child development.
  • Prevention of non-communicable diseases on children under five.
  • Improve graduation rates in upper secondary education.
  • Guarantee the access of children with disabilities to inclusive education.
  • Reduce the number of children and adolescents living in institutional care.
  • Prevention of violence against girls and boys.
  • Empower adolescents to participate in decision making processes.
  • Improve alternatives to deprivation of liberty for adolescents in conflict with the law.
  • Raise awareness about child rights among Uruguay's general public and the engagement of the private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) and academic institutions in promoting, protecting and monitoring child rights.

 

How can you make a difference?? 

Over the last years, Uruguay Country Office has experienced a sustained growth in fundraising, both in terms of revenue and in the number of pledge donors. Business intelligence is a key area to deliver the fundraising strategy and achieve the established goals, given the key role of data to boost results, to understand audiences’ behavior and to provide different analysis to diversify and grow. The position will play a key role to support the achievement of fundraising results through the management of Uruguay Country Office donors’ database and fundraising systems and tools while ensuring the compliance of data security and confidentiality standards.

 

Under the supervision of the Senior Fundraising Associate (Business Intelligence) and the general guidance of the Fundraising Manager, the incumbent supports the section to assure the proper collection of revenues from individual donations, assure an adequate processing and administration of individual donors' information, prepares statistical information and reports for decision making.

 

Key Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

 

Exhaustive donor database reporting system periodically updated to support timely decision making and to contribute with the preparation of the Workplan and the Direct Marketing strategy

  • Preparation of periodic reports: Collect information from Salesforce, Datawarehouse and other sources to prepare reports to be used by the area in various activities such as progress monitoring, preparation of the workplan and strategy planning, etc.
  • Assist in the development of statistical report: attrition rates, SBRM, income projection among others.
  • Assist in the development of knowledge and analysis of the donors and their behaviour.

 

Effectively and timely database uploading and maintenance

  • Assist in the definition of different Database uploading and maintenance criteria.
  • Maintenance of the database, which includes audit of data to confirm use of accurate entry process, and data cleaning, data normalisation, data enrichment and data deduplication.
  • Develop periodical database reporting to audit database integrity.
  • Verification and certification of database integrity.

 

Effectively and timely data processing and collection of revenues from individual donors

  • Data processing and payment information transferred to means of payment.
  • Assist in the monitoring of the billing and collection of donations through different means of payment.
  • Monitoring of rejections and administrative or natural cancellations.
  • Data entry of donations and rejections in the system.
  • Update presentation guidelines according to changes or request made by credit cards.
  • Support Operations on the conciliation process of Salesforce versus VISION. 

 

Database security

  • Assist in the application of internal policies on data security and PCI-DSS normative.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary education is required. Technical or university courses in database management, statistics, economics, computer science, social sciences, engineering or any other related field of discipline relevant to the job is an asset.

Work Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in database administration and security, capacity building and knowledge management, office management, administration and/or any other related field.

Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and Knowledge of English is required.

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
  • Broad exposure to substantive operating systems, platforms and applications.
  • Practical experience on major database administration and/or operating systems development is desirable.
  • Practical experience in business metric analysis, analytical marketing and information dashboards implementation is desirable.
  • Work experience in fundraising is an asset.
  • Work experience related to PCI-DSS rules and procedures is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
