How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF Zimbabwe seeks to hire a passionate and dedicated Health Officer (Immunizations and Public Health Emergencies) for their Health team. The Health Officer (Immunizations and Public Health Emergencies) reports to the Chief of Health Officer (Level 5) for guidance and general supervision. 

Purpose for the job:

The Health  Officer reports to the health specialist (NOC) working on immunization and emergencies.The Health Officer provides professional technical assistance and support for programme/project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of programme/project activities, with a focus on immunization and emergencies areas. Specific tasks include data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge networking and capacity building, in support of the work plan, and in alignment with Health programme goals and strategy.

  1. Support to programme development and planning
  2. Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  3. Technical and operational support to programme implementation
  4. Networking and partnership building
  5. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

Minimum requirements:

  • Education:  University degree in Public Health, nursing, public policy, management of public health initiatives
  • Work Experience:  A minimum of five years of professional work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of immunization and emergencies within health programmes. Professional work experience in a programme management function or a technical expert capacity in child survival & health care.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
