For every child, Health!

Burkina Faso has implemented exceptional COVID-19 response measures, with a particular focus on vaccination. The country's success can be attributed to its well-established immunization infrastructure, trained health workforce, and effective leadership. During the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government significantly improved its cold chain capacity by increasing the number of cold chain equipment by two-fold. As part of the cold chain closure, other initiatives are planned with funding from Gavi HSS3, the World Bank, Africa CDC. UNICEF has raised funds to implement robust state-of-the-art initiatives for integrated immunization.

The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programs, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias, or favoritism.
