Under the general guidance of the Communication Chief and Communication Specialist and working closely with team leads within the Communication Centre and Strategy, Partnership and Knowledge Management Centre (SPKC), the consultancy will focus on communication support for supply partnerships at the Supply Division (SD). This includes designing and supporting the implementation of joint communication plans and frameworks; multi-country coordination for communication planning and content gathering; partnership communication capacity building; and coordinating the development of communication assets and materials. The consultancy entails close collaboration with Private Sector, Fundraising and Partnerships teams, UNICEF national committees and regional and country offices, and supports the management of reputational risk, related to supply partnerships.
Scope of Work:
The Partnership Communication consultant will be responsible for:
1. Developing communication plans and packages e.g. communication plans, scripts, social media assets, key messages, Q&A documents, talking points etc., for supply partnerships and supply investment cases in close collaboration with communication, partnership and other Supply Division focal points, as well as with focal points from relevant National Committees, UNICEF regional and country offices.
2. Overseeing the implementation of agreed communication plans and activities, in alignment between UNICEF SD, other UNICEF offices, and partners. This includes liaising with other UNICEF divisions including the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division and the Global Communication and Advocacy (GCA) Division.
3. Organizing and facilitating partnership communication meetings to develop and follow up on partnership communication frameworks and plans, and supporting with on-site events
4. Supporting partnership communication requirements of new high-value partners and participating in meetings to facilitate general alignment across priorities, workstreams and offices.
5. Supporting the management of reputational risks relating to partnerships.

Work assignment / Deliverables:
The specific deliverables include:
1. Development of a Supply Division-specific partnership tiering document, parameters and opportunities
Expected outcome: A structured framework that categorizes partners based on engagement potential and strategic relevance, with clear parameters for each tier and identified opportunities per category.
Timeline: June 2025 (Estimated 10% dedication of total consultancy).
2. DG ECHO communication plan deliverables.
Expected outcome: A comprehensive communication plan aligned with DG ECHO milestones (May, July, September), including a detailed content calendar, multimedia content (social media cards, short videos, etc.), media outreach plans, and support for key events. A concise report on communication deliverables to be provided end of September.
Timeline: May, July and September 2025 (Estimated 10% dedication of total consultancy).
3. Partnership communication plans (ADEPT, HTLA, DSV, CMA CGM, Flexport, and others)
Expected outcome: Tailored communication plans and deliverables for each priority partner, including visibility materials, storytelling assets, messaging and stakeholder engagement. In addition to partner engagement and meeting notes and actions.
Timeline: Throughout the consultancy (Estimated 45% dedication of total consultancy).
4. Communication plan and packages for SD investment cases.
Expected outcome: A set of strategic communication products and messaging aligned to the investment cases, designed to support donor engagement and advocacy. This will include visual assets, briefs and dissemination plans.
Timeline: September 2025 (Estimated 20% dedication of total consultancy).
There is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis and this will be paid by UNICEF, will be covered separately by UNICEF and not included in the lump sum fee.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- A first-level university degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Social Sciences, Arts, or related fields is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the following fields: Communications, Public Relations, Account/Client Management, Sales, Marketing, Fundraising, or Advertising is required. Including at least two years of experience at the international level is desirable. Previous HQ, regional or country office experience is an asset.
Experience working in partnership contexts is required. Strong experience in working with a diverse group of stakeholders, across cross-cultural markets is an advantage. - Demonstrated ability to write press releases, develop communication plans, commission multimedia content and familiarity with social media as a marketing tool are requirements.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision is required.
- Strong project management experience working across cross-functional environments is desired.
- Familiarity with UNICEF and its systems and ways of working is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Occasional travel may be required.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
