Section/Division/Duty Station: Climate Environment Energy & Disaster, Programme Division, NYHQ
Duration: January 1, 2026 to December 15, 2026

BACKGROUND
Purpose of Activity/Assignment:
UNICEF is scaling up action to protect children from the escalating impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, and disasters. Guided by the Sustainability and Climate Change Action Plan (SCAP) 2023–2030, UNICEF works across all sectors—WASH, health, education, nutrition, social protection, and child protection—to build climate resilience, reduce risks, and promote sustainable development for every child.
The Climate Resilience Centre of Excellence for Children (CoE) will serve as UNICEF’s global hub for technical assistance, knowledge generation, financing, and partnerships to strengthen the resilience of services and systems for children. As the CoE is established, the transition phase will include building the design, communications, and visual storytelling capabilities needed to deliver across all functional areas—policy reform and programme design, climate finance, workforce development, humanitarian and resilience programming, equity and demand generation, and programme scale-up.
This consultancy will directly contribute to all CoE’s functions by designing and producing high-quality, results-focused knowledge products, training materials, advocacy briefs, and digital tools that capture and showcase UNICEF’s leadership in child-sensitive climate resilience. The consultant will transform evidence, lessons learned, and best practices into compelling visual and narrative products that inform decision-making, support capacity building, inspire action, and mobilise resources.
The assignment will cover the full design process for flagship reports, case studies, investment cases, policy briefs, training slide decks, infographics, dashboards, and event communication packages—tailored for diverse audiences including UNICEF staff, governments, partners, and donors.
All outputs will align with the UNICEF Strategic Plan (2026–2029) and SCAP, ensuring that UNICEF’s results and innovations are presented in ways that inspire internal and external audiences, strengthen advocacy, and demonstrate the catalytic value of investments in protecting children from climate, environmental, and disaster risks.
Scope of Work:
Under the supervision of the Programme Specialist and in close collaboration with functional leads, project managers, and thematic experts, the consultant will design and deliver high-quality, visually compelling knowledge, advocacy, and capacity-building products that strengthen all CoE’s functions.
