PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:
The Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP), based in Geneva, aims to achieve sustainable impact for children – income and influence at scale – by maximizing UNICEF's private fundraising, partnerships, and engagement activities, including work with National Committees, regional, and country offices, for the realization of children's rights. The Humanitarian Funding Unit within the Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section of PFP supports National Committees and Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) countries and steers global efforts across the organization to maximize funding opportunities through and for humanitarian crises and sudden-onset disasters.
Over the last 5 years, on average 66% of private sector funding has gone to only 3 HAC appeals – many of them media-covered emergencies. Although we will continue to leverage media-driven crises, our universal mandate requires a more sustainable and equitable distribution of funding across emergencies, especially for Chronically Underfunded Emergencies (CUEs). Chronically Underfunded Emergencies are crises marked by sustained humanitarian needs that often span years or even decades. These emergencies typically occur in regions affected by chronic displacement, ongoing conflicts, or recurring natural disasters such as drought.
Closing the funding gap for chronically underfunded emergencies from the private sector demands bold action and seamless collaboration across UNICEF.
It is in this regard that UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division is launching the Global Emergency Alliance for Children, a pioneering platform to mobilize leading businesses for sustained, flexible support to children affected by protracted and sudden-onset crises. The Alliance aims to reduce the funding gap for crises by leveraging corporate resources, expertise, and influence to deliver measurable impact for children worldwide.
The coordinator will play a pivotal role in operationalizing the Alliance, ensuring effective partner engagement, governance, and delivery of key milestones, including the high-profile launch at the World Economic Forum in Davos and the onboarding of members.

SCOPE OF WORK:
Duties will span as follows:
Alliance Operations and Coordination through the Secretariat
- Support the development and management of a detailed annual work plan and timeline for the Alliance, aligned with the multi-year vision and key milestones.
- Coordinate the activities of the Alliance Secretariat, Steering Committee, and advisory groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among the UNICEF ecosystem and corporate partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Alliance members, prospective partners, and internal stakeholders.
Partner Engagement, Event Management and& Member Services
- Provide direct support to National Committees and Regional Offices within pitching the Alliance, from the development of pitching materials to joining the negotiations when and where needed.
- Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of Alliance members in collaboration with National Committees and Regional Offices, ensuring a diverse and strategic mix of partners across sectors and geographies.
- Support the design and delivery of high-value member benefits, including field visits, emergency simulations, roundtables, and bespoke communications.
- Facilitate regular engagement opportunities and ensure members are recognized and celebrated across UNICEF platforms.
- Lead the planning and execution of key Alliance events, including the Davos launch and member convenings.
- Oversee logistics, invitations, agenda design, and post-event follow-up.
Governance
- Organize and support monthly Secretariat meetings, quarterly advisory committee sessions, annual Steering Committee sessions, and ad hoc task forces as needed.
- Prepare and disseminate agendas, briefing materials, minutes, and follow-up actions for all governance meetings.
- Track and report on Alliance progress, member engagement, funding flows, and impact metrics.
Communications and Advocacy
- Support the drafting and coordination of Alliance communications, including newsletters, press releases, social media toolkits, and bespoke content for members, in collaboration with other internal units.
- Support the development and dissemination of the Alliance’s investment case, pitch materials, and annual advocacy campaigns.
- Support the development and management of the Alliance website and content.
Reporting, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Develop and implement tools to monitor member engagement, funding contributions, and programmatic impact.
- Capture lessons learned and best practices to inform the Alliance’s growth and evolution.
- Manage knowledge and maintain records in the collaboration site.
Other Duties
- Perform other tasks as required, including supporting National Committees and emergency-related functions within the corporate team.

The consultant will submit monthly deliverables throughout the contract period and payments will be processed at the end of each month, upon acceptance of deliverables by the supervisor.
Deliverable 1: Due 31 January 2026
- Approved annual work plan and stakeholder mapping.
Deliverable 2: Ongoing from 30 December 2025 to 29 December 2026
- Onboarding of at least 8 corporate members.
Deliverable 3: From 30 December 2025 to 28 February 2026
- Launch event delivered at Davos.
Deliverable 4: Due 29 December 2026
- Steering Committee meeting.
Deliverable: 5: Due on 31 March 2026, 30 June 2026, 30 September 2026, and 29 December 2026

Travel:
- The consultant may be required to make up to 4 trips during the assignment. Travel expenses will be covered separately by UNICEF and are not included in the lump sum fee.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education:
- Advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in international development, business administration, communications, social sciences, or a related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in partnership management, resource mobilization, event management, or corporate engagement, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
- Demonstrated experience organizing high-level events and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships or platforms.
- Experience working with or in the private sector, especially on ESG, CSR, or humanitarian initiatives, is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to coordinate complex projects under tight deadlines.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives, corporate partners, and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
- Proficiency in English (French and/or other UN languages is an asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual event platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
Language:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language is desirable.

Remarks:
Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.
Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
