UNICEF Albania’s Country Programme 2022-2026 aims to ensure every child has the best start in life and equitable access to services that support their full potential. Aligned with Albania’s EU integration and national development priorities, the programme adopts a life-cycle approach to child rights. As part of its strategic shift, UNICEF Albania is enhancing its digital communication, advocacy, and private sector engagement to mobilize sustainable investments for children. The Communication Assistant (Digital) GS5 will play a key role in amplifying UNICEF’s mission, building trust with stakeholders, and driving visibility through compelling storytelling and digital innovation.

How can you make a difference? 

Under the supervision of the Communication Officer, NOB and with a dotted reporting line to the Fundraising Officer, NOB, the incumbent will support the planning, design, implementation, and monitoring of the Country Office’s digital communications and fundraising strategies. The role will contribute to enhancing UNICEF’s visibility, engagement, and resource mobilization efforts through digital platforms and campaigns. While not a core function of the role, the incumbent will be called upon to provide limited IT-related support in coordination with the local Operation Manager and regional/global ICT teams (GSSC and Valencia).

  1. Support Management of Digital Communication, Advocacy, Website and Social Media
  2. Support the Country Office in strengthening fundraising efforts
  3. Support in Monitoring and evaluation of digital and social media
  4. Administrative and operational support
  5. IT focal point support (Secondary responsibility)

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: 
    • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical and/or university level courses in Digital Communication, Marketing, Advertisement, IT or a related area.
  • Work Experience:  
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of digital communication, social media management, fundraising or related fields.
    • Experience working with UN agencies, international organizations or Private sector is highly desirable.
    • Background and/or familiarity with emergencies is an asset.

 

  • Skills (optional): 
    • Strong writing and editing skills in English and Albanian.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
    • Ability to connect with CSR managers, Private sector leads/CEOs
    • Proficiency in digital tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite).
  • Language Requirements: 
    • Fluency in English and Albanian is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is considered an asset. 

Desirables:

    • Proven track record in content creation, digital storytelling, and audience engagement.
    • Familiarity with AI tools, CRM systems, and marketing automation platforms.
    • Experience in website management (e.g., Drupal or similar CMS) and SEO optimization.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple social media accounts, analyze performance metrics, and adapt strategies accordingly.
    • Basic experience in IT support or coordination with ICT teams is considered an asset.
