PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:

As part of the Digital Strategy of UNICEF, the Digital Data Analytics Specialist will be responsible for accurate Web Analytics implementations in the respective region and for providing statistical and actionable insights for the Digital teams.

This Digital Data Analytics Specialist will analyze large amounts of raw information to find trends that will help improve the digital campaigns' performance in each region. The Digital Data Analytics Specialist will build data products to extract valuable business insights and recommend actions to the digital teams. Therefore, this role will share commercial responsibilities for the results of the digital campaigns in the respective region. This consultant role will be part of the Data & Insights team, under the global Digital Team of the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP), UNICEF. 

How can you make a difference? 

SCOPE OF WORK:

Analytics Reporting and Insights Generation:

  • Support key markets with advanced analytic solutions to tackle business problems such as online conversion rates, generating hypotheses for A/B testing, and analyzing the path to conversion of digital advertising channels, as well as applying Marketing Mix Modelling techniques to measure incremental gains from all fundraising channels, including offline channels such as DRTV and Face to Face.
  • Build digital analytic dashboards that include all paid marketing activity, email, and other campaign performance metrics, and generate insights that improve online revenue.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Activation and Paid media teams to measure digital performance (website content, Search Engine Marketing advertising, and email communications, A/B testing) for global campaigns and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
  • Work with the Individual Giving (IG) team colleagues to improve donor engagement and retention activities by using various data sources (CRM, Payment, Online).
  • Create a regional dashboard that monitors performance across the region.

Digital Analytics and Fundraising:

  • Provide specialist digital analytics and fundraising knowledge to PFP staff in Fundraising Services, Market Development, and wider teams.
  • Provide input into PFP’s overall strategic planning for digital analytics and support this strategy with National Committees and country offices.
  • Provide specialist digital analytics and local knowledge to UNICEF National Committees and country offices in the assigned region as required.
  • Support markets in maximizing opportunities by leveraging digital marketing tools and technology.

Analytics and Tracking:

  • Manage and implement digital analytics, champion first-party data tracking methodologies, and have a strong understanding of data collection best practices for GA4 360 in line with Global Data and Analytics team standards and recommendations.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of digital analytics data and how it can be used and blended with other first-party data sources to provide a holistic donor 360 view.
  • Ability to work in a Google BigQuery environment and build, develop, and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support in-market acquisition and retention efforts (desirable).
  • Be part of the implementation team on the roadmap for global digital technology solutions, including the global online fundraising platform, email platform, analytics platform, etc.

Support the Digital Talent & Knowledge Management Strategy by:

  • Actively participate in the creation of a global digital analytics community of skilled and engaged professionals who grow, learn, and achieve outstanding results together.
  • Leverage Knowledge Management for improved digital analytics results by identifying, sharing, and replicating case studies and best practices across markets.

WORK ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Analytics Reporting and Insights Generation - Support key markets with advanced analytic solutions to tackle business problems.
  2. Digital Analytics and Fundraising - Provide specialist digital analytics and fundraising knowledge to PFP staff in Fundraising Services, Market Development, and wider teams.
  3. Analytics and Tracking - Implement digital analytics, champion first-party data tracking methodologies, and best practices.
  4. Digital Talent & Knowledge Management - Actively participate in the digital fundraising community, identifying, sharing, and replicating case studies and best practices across markets.

DELIVERABLES:

Payment will be made on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. UNICF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if deliverables/outputs are incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines. All materials developed will remain the copyright of UNICEF and UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future.

  • Advanced analytic solutions are delivered, including hypothesis generation for A/B testing and path-to-conversion analysis of digital advertising channels, resulting in improved online conversion rates.

Deliverable 2: by mid-January 2026, by mid-February 2026, by mid-March 2026, by mid-April 2026, by mid-May 2026, by mid-June 2026.

  • Digital analytic dashboards are developed and delivered in collaboration with marketing teams, using path-to-conversion and Marketing Mix Modelling techniques to measure incremental gains from all fundraising channels and inform channel optimization. Aim for 3 markets in the region.

Deliverable 3: by mid-January 2026, by mid-February 2026, by mid-March 2026.

  • A recommendation report is delivered to optimize digital performance, website content, Search Engine Marketing advertising, and email communications for global campaigns.

Deliverable 4: by mid-January 2026, by mid-February 2026, by mid-March 2026, by mid-April 2026.

  • A donor engagement and retention activities dashboard/report is delivered by working with IG team colleagues and using various data sources (CRM, Payment, Online). Aim for 3 SES markets in the region.

Deliverable 5: by mid-January 2026, by mid-February 2026, by mid-March 2026, by mid-April 2026.

  • Provide input into PFP’s overall strategic planning with a digital analytics strategy and implement it to achieve specific goals, such as improving website traffic, optimizing digital campaigns, and increasing donor conversion rates by 7-10%.

Deliverable 6: by mid-January 2026, by mid-February 2026, by mid-March 2026, by mid-April 2026, by mid-May 2026, by mid-June 2026.

  • Leverage Knowledge Management for improved digital analytics results by identifying, sharing, and replicating at least 3 case studies (tracking, reporting, analytics product) and best practices across markets.

  • Data collection best practices are developed and delivered, and digital analytics implemented, championing first-party data tracking methodologies.

  • Data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support in-market acquisition and retention efforts are developed and maintained.

Consultant's Workplace and Official Travel:

  • The consultant will be remote/home-based. As part of the assignment, there is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis and this will be covered separately by UNICEF, and not included in the lump sum fee. The consultant will arrange her/his travel as and when they take place, and related costs will be reimbursed per UNICEF travel policy.

Travel Clause:

  • All UNICEF rules and regulations related to travel of Consultants apply.
  • All travels shall be undertaken only upon the prior written approval by UNICEF.
  • The consultant must be fit to travel, be in a possession of the valid UN BSAFE certificate, obligatory inoculation(s) and have valid personal travel/medical insurance and an immunization/vaccination card.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in Computer Science, Analytics, Mathematics, or any other related field is required.
  • Alternatively, a first level university degree with an additional 2 years of relevant professional work experience will be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.

Experience (Required):

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a Digital or Data Analyst and in data mining, with commercial KPIs.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital projects, campaigns, and Google Analytics implementations.
  • Experience with attribution models.
  • An analytical mind and business acumen.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. This is crucial for the role, as it will require interaction with different stakeholders in UNICEF, including technical teams, digital leader, and management level positions.

Experience (Desired):

  • Knowledge of R, SQL, and Python; familiarity with JavaScript.
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., Looker/Power BI) and data frameworks (e.g., GCP).
  • Understanding of quantitative techniques and paid media data.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN Language is an asset.

Remarks:  

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
