This Consultancy is being established to support the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit’s technical capacity to generate reporting, prepare supporting documentation and research summaries, optimize data management, automate data analytics and business intelligence (including data analysis and reporting platforms – i.e. dashboard) for an increasing number of markets., new projects and analytical needs. The Data Analyst consultancy is created in a broad context which requires increased efficiency in how AMI operates, how it maximizes use of data, how it integrates different data assets and increased agility in giving access to data.
Main areas identified for the assignment will be:
1.In collaboration with the International Fundraising Leadership Forum (IFL – of which UNICEF is a member) and its data analytics vendor (Adroit) provide technical support with the data preparation and data management for the Strategic Comparator Analysis (SCA) throughout the entire annual initiative cycle. Structure UNICEF income data and create the data files according to the defined protocols and share these with Adroit. Join and participate in the IFL meetings.
2.Using the financial data from the 16 participating INGOs, supplied by Adroit, once harmonized and consolidated, produce the SCA reporting, looking at opportunities for automation.
3.Assist with the production of the Global, regional and market reports which summarize income performance across Peers. These reports place UNICEF results in the context of other comparators’ performance. It enables fundraising leadership internationally, regionally, and at market level to understand their relative fundraising performance across channels and markets and most importantly identify growth opportunities.
Support with preparing and running key internal meetings.
4.Technical maintenance, update and new feature(s) development of AMI SCA dashboard.
5.For one other key AMI studies, optimize the study’s data flow with the aim of achieving efficiencies with Barometer reporting and improving access to the study’s results with dashboarding solution.

Scope of Work:
Working under the supervision of the Market Research Specialist, the Data Analyst consultant will be responsible for:
STRATEGIC COMPARATOR ANALYSIS
1.Income Analysis and Benchmarking: data preparation and data management for SCA annual cycle. Develop the SCA reports templates. Receive, harmonise and consolidate the PSFR data from Finance according to IFL protocol.
2.Reporting and Business Intelligence: produce Power BI dashboards and reports for SCA. 55 customized individual country reports where UNICEF fundraises. Global as well as Regional reporting.
3.Public Sector deep-dive analysis: assess impact of the funding crisis on UNICEF versus other comparators, scope different scenarios for PSFR to address funding gap
4.Cost Benchmarking initiative: as part of the new IFL Cost Benchmarking initiative, prepare the required data files for the harmonization and consolidation of the data, in close collaboration with UNICEF Finance team and IFL’s vendor.
5.Develop scenario planning module in SCA dashboard: create a new user-friendly tool allowing users to create different income projections scenario allowing for better planning.
6.SCA technical guidance note: a document detailing the protocols and for data management and automation and dashboarding for SCA. The aim of the guidance note is to ensure continuity on the technical side of the SCA initiative.

7.Automation and BI tools for one other AMI key study: devise a solution to optimize data flow, facilitate data integration and automate the reporting and indicator dissemination of the results coming out of one other AMI key studies.

Education:
• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in marketing or Business administration, or another relevant field is required.
• A first level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in combination with two (2) additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional work experience in business intelligence, competitive analysis and data analytics.
• Proven experience in data analysis and turning data into insights (Market Insights) is required.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of advanced functionalities of Excel and Power BI, (Market Measurements) is required.
• Proven experience in building dashboards with business intelligence tools, including good command of Python programming language is required.
• Prior professional experience in the non-profit / charity sector is required.
• Experience in working and collaborating as part of an industry body is an asset.
• Experience working in an international environment and UN/UNICEF is an asset.
Language:
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:
Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.
Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of
Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations, or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
