UNICEF’s Digital Education and Learning Innovation Hub-Education CoE is looking for an experienced Digital Learning and AI Literacy Expert who will bring strong theoretical and practical knowledge on the integration of technology into teaching-learning together with best practices for supporting UNICEF Country Offices and Ministries of Education deliver impactful digital education programming to accelerate improvements in student learning outcomes, particularly for the most vulnerable children. The role will provide high-quality technical assistance, advisory, and coordination support to the implementation of the Hub’s Learning Pioneers Programme providing expert advice to UNICEF Country Offices and their respective government partners on the scaling and systems integration of digital learning tools and upskilling on digital transformation. This includes strengthening national capacities for digital transformation, with a particular focus on teacher empowerment, AI literacy, and future-ready skills development. The consultant will also provide technical support to the implementation and integration of digital skills and AI literacy in national education systems through, among others, UNICEF’s Tinkering with Tech and AI initiative ensuring alignment with the UNICEF Digital Education Strategy 2025–2030 and broader EdTech for Good principles. The consultant will also support teacher empowerment in the digital age and help provide quality technical assistance support to countries in line with the UNICEF Digital Education Strategy, contributing to the development and dissemination of global public goods, including the Superstar Teacher Toolbox, and provide hands-on support to countries to contextualize and implement these resources
The consultant will have the following main responsibilities:
• Provide technical guidance and coordination support to the implementation of the Hub’s Learning Pioneers Programme (LPP), providing expert advice to selected UNICEF Country Offices and their respective government partners on the scaling,systems integration , and sustainable adoption of digital learning tools while supporting capacity upskilling on digital transformation. This also includes coordination support with the broader Education CoE thematic experts, UNICEF Regional Offices, and other UNICEF divisions like the Digital Impact Division and Office of Innovation. This also requires participation as technical expert in related workshops, teacher trainings and events, and monitoring visits, as needed.
•Advancing digital and AI literacy. Provide technical support to the implementation and integration of digital skills and AI literacy in national education systems through, among others, UNICEF’s Tinkering with Tech and AI initiative. This will include coordination with various global partners, inputs and quality assurance review to enhance the Tinkering with Tech & AI learning package and implementation model, and support to countries with the implementation. This also requires participation as technical expert in Human Resources United Nations Children’s Fund related workshops, teacher training and events and monitoring visits. This also includes support to the implementation research, contribute to partner coordination, and facilitation of knowledge sharing to broader UNICEF work on skills development for adolescents and young people.
• Teacher empowerment and learning resources development. Provide quality technical inputs to the development of teacher-facing learning materials around teacher upskilling on digital education linked to the broader work around teacher empowerment in the digital age. This includes updating and developing new materials as part of the Superstar Teacher Toolbox, with a focus on teacher professional development for digital and AI-enabled learning. and supporting countries that are interested to integrate the materials into existing national teacher professional development programmes.
• Innovation and capacity building. Provide coordination support and technical inputs to the design and organization of the annual Innovation Camp that brings together UNICEF Country Office education staff and government officials as part of capacity upskilling on digital education and learning innovation.
• Technical assistance and strategic advisory. Provide quality technical assistance to countries on edtech and digital learning in line with the UNICEF Digital Education Strategy 2025-2030

Minimum requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in education, education and technology, another relevant technical field
- Work Experience: At least 6 years with master’s in digital education, including the use of education technology for children’s learning and supporting teacher professional development, combining practical and theoretical experience at national and international levels
- A bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of relevant professional experience can be considered (in lieu of a master’s degree)
