Effective Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services are essential to support programme delivery, operations, communication, and organizational efficiency.
To support the smooth functioning of ICT systems and services in UNICEF Eritrea, the office requires short-term technical assistance to support day-to-day ICT operations and user support services.
How can you make a difference?
Key Tasks:
Under the supervision of the ICT Officer, the consultant will:
- Provide day-to-day technical support for computers, hardware, software, printers, and network-related issues.
- Assist in setting up, installing, and configuring ICT equipment and office systems.
- Troubleshoot basic ICT issues, including login, connectivity, printer, and user support issues.
- Monitor ICT systems and escalate technical issues where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of ICT assets, support requests, and activities in Service Gateway.
- Support ICT inventory management, including labelling, tracking, and updating equipment records in coordination with Admin.
- Assist in testing system updates, applications, and configurations as required.
- Provide basic technical guidance and user support to staff.
- Support implementation of ICT-related projects and system changes under the guidance of the ICT Officer.
- Ensure compliance with UNICEF ICT standards, procedures, and security requirements.
- Perform other ICT-related support tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum requirements:
- Education:
A university degree (Bachelor) in one of the following fields is required: computer science, software engineering, information technology management, business administration or related field is required.
- Work Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in ICT user support and familiarity with network equipment.
Desirable:
- Exposure to working with government or development partners; interest in learning and professional growth
- Field work experience
- Background/familiarity with Emergency situations
- Skills:
Prior experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research (e.g., interviews, surveys, data coding, or basic statistical analysis).
Experience working in multicultural or international teams.
- Language Requirements:
Fluency in English and the local language is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
