For every child, the right for Care
The purpose of the UNICEF internship programme is to provide a framework through which students or recent graduates gain practical experience while supporting UNICEF programmes. The WASH programme in Egypt supports national efforts in water, sanitation, and hygiene across both development and humanitarian activities, including supply management, reporting, and sector coordination as WASH Sector Lead.
How can you make a difference?
The intern will support the WASH team in operational and coordination activities, with a focus on proposal editing, reporting, supply tracking, and interagency engagement. WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) refers to the essential services that ensure access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, which are critical for public health and child well-being. The role does not include programme design or development, but will contribute to specific activities such as preparation for interagency trainings, including logistics and coordination.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The intern will contribute to the team’s work by:
- Learn about UNICEF Egypt’s WASH programme and how it aligns with national priorities.
- Edit and format project proposals and concept notes.
- Prepare and edit reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other documents.
- Update tracking tools and contribute to WASH supply status reporting including delivery status and supporting documentation.
- Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, including logistics and participant coordination.
- Prepare meeting minutes and monitor follow-up actions.
- Support communication and coordination with partner organizations

Minimum requirements
Education: Enrolment in a degree programme in an undergraduate or graduate school, or recent graduation (< 2 years) Preferred fields of study include:

Work Experience: Strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records
Language Requirements: Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English

- In accordance with UNICEF's guidelines, all interns must receive a stipend (70% of net monthly salary of GS 3).
- There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.
- UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern's service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrollment in a health/accident plan prior to starting his/her work. If accepted, the intern will be required to provide a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions regarding service as an intern
- Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including for medical reasons.
- Interns shall observe all applicable rules, regulations, instructions and procedures and directives of UNICEF.
