How can you make a difference
The All-Staff /Section Retreats aim to enhance team cohesion through discourse, socialization and exercises that will enable them to promote a positive culture, building mutual trust, respect, team spirit and staff morale. Overall, the retreat is expected to act as a springboard for building a more efficient and effective team in line with the UNICEF Core values and respond as well as foster positive solutions to priority issues that comes from UNICEF Zambia Global Staff Surveys.
The consultant will be engaged on a Long-Term Agreement on an as-needed basis. The specific objectives of the all-staff or section retreat/team building activities will include:
- Identifying actions required to enhance staff wellbeing and togetherness, based on the findings from the Global Staff Survey (GSS) and GSS Work Plans.
- Enhancing team cohesion and promoting a shared vision and values, including embracing a common code of conduct.
- Promoting staff wellbeing with the aim of boosting team performance, collaboration, psychological safety, innovation, and creativity.
- Reflecting collectively on the agreements and action points from the GSS, Pulse Survey, and other data, identify enabling and disabling factors and facilitate the development of a roadmap for improving team relations and handling issues in an environment that fosters CRITAS values.
- Building staff capacity to accept and adapt to change, and to build resilience in the face of change.
- Promoting staff health and wellbeing, including by improving socialization (connectedness) within the team.
The individual consultant(s) on LTA will be required to design and facilitate (section/whole of office) team building workshops or retreats for the UNICEF Zambia Country Office, when there is demand. Additionally, the consultant will develop and organize sessions utilizing creative and dynamic approaches to encourage the full participation of staff. The consultant is expected to design the appropriate methodology to foster openness, self-reflection, interaction, communication, connectedness/togetherness and wellbeing by breaking down the barriers (by section, role, level, nationality, gender, etc.).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Minimum requirements:
- Master’s degree in a related subject including communications, environmental studies, Industrial psychology, political science, development studies required or equivalent.
- At least 2-5 years of demonstrated experience of facilitating team retreats, individual or group coaching,
- Experience of working in Zambia.
- Legal entity/consortium of legal entities required.
- Strong planning and Organizing skills
- Allocates the appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work
- Uses time efficiently
- Monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary
- Must be Creative and offer innovative and different solutions to solve problems or issues
- Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear report.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
