For every child, Polio drops!

The Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) operates under an emergency designation, reflecting the urgency, scale, and complexity of the polio situation in the country. In this context, social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) plays a vital role in building public trust, promoting vaccine benefits, countering misinformation, and increasing vaccine uptake.
Digital engagement is an emerging SBCC tool that requires a dynamic response, creating the need for an intern to support the evolving digital communications landscape. The digital communications intern will support the SBCC section in developing engaging visuals and videos, tracking and applying emerging digital trends, and tailoring content for diverse audiences, including parents and caregivers, frontline workers, GPEI partners, and government stakeholders.

Digital engagement is an emerging SBCC tool that requires a dynamic response, creating the need for an intern to support the evolving digital communications landscape. The digital communications intern will support the SBCC section in developing engaging visuals and videos, tracking and applying emerging digital trends, and tailoring content for diverse audiences, including parents and caregivers, frontline workers, GPEI partners, and government stakeholders.

The Intern will be responsible for the following:

1. Develop Engaging Digital Content - Create visually appealing and informative graphics and short videos to support PEl's social and behaviour change campaigns, adapting messaging for different stakeholder groups (parents, caregivers, frontline workers, partners, government).

Deliverables:

  • At least 15 social media graphics and 5 short videos per month, aligned with PEI branding and messaging.

2. Monitor and Apply Emerging Digital Trends - Keep PEl's digital engagement strategies current and effective by leveraging new trends.

Deliverables:

  • Monthly trend report with at least 3 actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Implement one trend-based content idea per month.

3. Track and Report Digital Engagement Metrics - Measure the effectiveness of digital content and inform future strategies.

Deliverables:

  • Bi-weekly analytics report covering reach, engagement, and performance.
  • Provide 3 data-driven recommendations for improvement in each report.

4. Support Digital Campaign Execution - Assist in planning and rolling out digital campaigns for key immunization drives and awareness events.

Deliverables:

  • Prepare a campaign content calendar for at least one major PEI campaign per quarter, including visuals, captions, and posting schedule.

How can you make a difference? 

The Pakistan PEI is a multi-agency public health initiative coordinated by the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) under the Government of Pakistan. As the programme continues to address polio circulation across the country, the NEOC plays a 1 central role in coordinating provincial and national campaigns, ensuring alignment across technical, operational, and SBCC strategies.

Minimum requirements:

Education:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. programme, or have graduated within the past two years.
• Academic background in communication, marketing, visual design, or journalism.
• Training or experience in public health communication is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to use digital platforms for awareness-raising and social and behaviour change.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and adapt content based on digital communication analytics is an added advantage.

Work Experience:

At least 2 years of relevant work experience. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in digital communication for global public health, enabling the intern to strengthen skills in strategic content creation, social media analytics, and behaviour change communication, while gaining exposure to large­!scale emergency response programming and multi-partner coordination.

Skills:

• Proficiency in visual and audio design tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express).
• Ability to manage social media platforms such as Meta, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or social media insights to track engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a "storyteller'' mindset.
• Ability to multitask, manage projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Self-starter mentality, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.

 Desirables:

  • Knowledge of the Urdu language is desirable.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

Duration of the internship is 6 months
