The Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) division, based in Geneva, is responsible for private-sector fundraising, engagement, and partnerships, playing a crucial role in generating resources to support UNICEF’s work. To enhance the efficiency, retention, and career development of its staff, UNICEF Geneva aims to improve and formalize the career development pathways within PFP and other related Divisions, specifically the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (DGCA), Public Partnerships Division (PPD) and Generation Unlimited (Gen U). These four Divisions collectively form the Partnership Cone, which coordinates fundraising, advocacy, and public-private partnerships to support UNICEF’s goals. As part of UNICEF’s ongoing efforts to support staff development and build a more effective organization, a comprehensive approach to career path development within the Partnership Cone is critical. Therefore, UNICEF is seeking a consultant to conduct research and propose structured career paths, helping align staff growth with organizational needs and long-term goals.

The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical assistance in designing, managing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting the progress of education programmes in partnership with national counterparts, regional partners, colleagues, and other partners, and in line with federal and regional priorities. Under the overall guidance and direction of the Chief of Field office (NO-D) and in consultation with the Chief of Learning and Development (P5), the Specialist will support the Education Programme by working across the Access, Quality and Skills outcome areas which focus improving universal access to and equitable and inclusive primary, pre-primary, secondary and alternative skills development learning programmes for out-of-school children and adolescents and ensuring quality and relevance in education, including foundational learning, relevant pedagogical approaches. Primarily, the Education Specialist will provide technical guidance, programme development and planning, programme implementation, coordination, monitoring, resource mobilization, advocacy as well as innovation, knowledge management and capacity building support all with the aim of contributing to improved learning outcomes, especially for disadvantaged and vulnerable children and adolescents in the region. The Specialist will also collaborate cross-sectoral as relevant on issues related to, gender, education in emergencies, protection, mental health, addressing social norms, climate resilience and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools (WinS).
