The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC) in collaboration with development partners, is finalizing the Micronutrient Survey (MNS) which is a component of the Tanzania Demographic and Health Survey/ Malaria Indicator Survey (TDHS/MIS) 2022 . The MNS includes an expanded set of micronutrient biomarkers assessments among women of reproductive age (WRA) and children under the age of five years – including Iron, vitamin A, vitamin D, folate, vitamin B12, and inflammatory markers; and at the population level, an assessment of the coverage of fortified foods (salt, edible oil, wheat, and maize flour). Individual national consultancy for design and implementation of the analysis of the breastfeeding practices in Turkmenistan in Turkmenistan
For quality analysis of the current environment and barriers to breastfeeding in Turkmenistan, this consultancy foresees implementation of the secondary data analysis of the levels, trends and relationships of key variables related to the breastfeeding from the MICS and TMNS surveys, and testing of the hypothesis through focus group discussions for quality data collection. The implementation of the assignment must help improve understanding of the current environment and barriers to the breastfeeding in Turkmenistan and collect programmatic recommendations for engagement with the public and private partners of UNICEF.
