UNICEF Pacific Consultancy: Feasibility Study for Establishing a Centre of Excellence to Professionalize Cold Chain Equipment, & Procurement & Supply Chain Management services for Health, 61 Days in Fiji/Pacific Island Countries
UNICEF Pacific is in search of a dedicated and proactive international Consultant. The main objective of this consultancy is to help UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Office To address this gap, in partnership with Fiji National University (FNU) and the East Africa Centre of Excellence (EACE), UNICEF Pacific conducted a 10-day face-to-face training workshop for selected candidates from Pacific countries. This initiative aimed to build the capacity of technical staff from PICTs, helping them identify and overcome cold chain challenges and implement effective solutions. By offering this training locally, the initiative seeks to support professionals working in immunization and other programs who otherwise might not have access to such crucial training. During this period, the EACE team lead, with the support of the UNICEF Focal person, met with several stakeholders and discussed the potential for establishing a regional (Pacific) Centre of Excellence for Cold Chain Equipment Management. A feasibility study or landscape assessment activity was proposed to inform the setting up of the Centre of Excellence.

The Country Office will be receiving over $200 million from the World Bank between 2024 and 2026 to support the humanitarian response programming and system preservation and strengthening of the health, nutrition, and WASH sectors. Of this World Bank funding almost $80 million will be for Health and Nutrition sections to support project implementation across all the 18 states. Additionally, the office became the Global Fund primary recipients for over $100 million. The Budget Officer performs a variety of specialized tasks in support of the preparation, monitoring, and control of the project budgets, and guides program staff on budget management and compliance with donors’ financial conditions.
