UNICEF has been working in Cameroon since 1975 to enable women and children to fully exercise their right to development without restriction, as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. UNICEF provides financial and technical support to Cameroon in seven key areas to help fully realize the rights of women and children. These areas include health, HIV/AIDS, water, sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, education, child protection, and social inclusion. UNICEF focuses primarily on the most vulnerable and marginalized children and families. According to United Nations data, Cameroon’s population was estimated at 26,545,863 people in 2020. The population is young and generates significant socio-economic demand. In rural areas, limited access to basic social services and the effects of climate change contribute to household impoverishment and severe deprivation for children. The task is enormous but not insurmountable; it requires the commitment and energy of all stakeholders in Cameroon and beyond, including women, men, youth, and children, as well as the government, technical and financial partners, donors, civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and communities. Everyone is invited to join the effort to address the challenges that lie ahead. Together, we will act for Cameroon, a country that embodies both the challenges and the hopes of Africa.

How can you make a difference?

To support UNICEF’s Partnership, Advocacy and Communication (PAC) Section in advancing child rights and development outcomes by contributing to media monitoring, content creation, communication and advocacy initiatives, private-sector partnership engagement, and visibility activities. The intern will assist in producing communication materials, managing multimedia content, strengthening relationships with stakeholders, supporting events and field missions, and carrying out other tasks that enhance UNICEF’s public outreach, advocacy efforts, and partnership objectives at both the country and zonal office levels.

• Support the implementation of daily media monitoring (print, broadcast, and online media) on topics related to UNICEF’s areas of intervention.
• Contribute to the production and editing of the UNICEF Office newsletter.
• Support the design and production of multimedia content (photos, videos, infographics, and digital content).
• Contribute to the development and monitoring of partnerships with the private sector.
• Support the implementation of UNICEF’s external communication, awareness-raising, and visibility activities.
• Assist in the organization of events, campaigns, and field visits.
• Perform any other tasks related to the objectives of the Partnerships, Advocacy and Communication (PAC) Section and the assigned office, according to service needs.

Education: The candidate must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university program in Journalism, Communication, or a related field.

Language: Have excellent proficiency in either French or English

Skills:
