For every child, the right to be seen 

Under the overall guidance of the Representative, NO-A Private Sector Fundraising Officer support the CO in the implementation of the private sector fundraising strategy, including expanding the active donor base, and strengthen the acquisition strategy, with a focus on quality and long-term pledging outcomes. Currently, approximately 90% of the monthly gross revenues are sourced from the donor portfolio, while the remaining 10% is derived from newly acquired donors. The fundraising strategy will guide fundraising efforts and ensure long term program sustainability.

How can you make a difference? 

The Private Sector Fundraising Officer (NOA) will be responsible for  coordinating the private sector fundraising activities, including supporting the team in the country office to achieve expected targets, following the guidance of the Regional Cluster Strategy, foster collaboration and coordination between all UNICEF fundraising modalities, including  private sector and individual donors.

The incumbent will implement new acquisition projects with a focus on fostering quality growth, analyzing current acquisition strategies, and collaborating with the team to implement enhancements to ensure early attrition and funds diversification. The incumbent will oversee and coordinate various fundraising channels and activities, ensure engaged and long-term partnerships, and drive revenue growth for both the Country Programme needs and UNICEF globally.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties

1. Supporting the Private Sector Fundraising Team

  • Provides administrative, coordination, and operational support to the Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) team across all fundraising activities.
  • Assists in collecting, organizing, and compiling qualitative and quantitative data for reports, workplans, activity summaries, and performance tracking.
  • Supports the team in tracking progress against individual and team workplans by maintaining updated records, timelines, and reminders under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Assists in gathering information and documenting examples of best practices from the global PSFR team and LAC cluster for internal use.
  • Provides basic support in supplier interactions, including collecting quotations, preparing simple terms of reference based on templates, and following up with vendors to ensure timely submissions.
  • Supports routine monitoring of fundraising activities (e.g., checking data accuracy, assisting with tests, and collecting partner updates) to help the team improve implementation.

2. Operational Contribution to the Private Sector Strategy

  • Works under the guidance of senior staff to assist with background research and information gathering for the development of the private sector strategy.
  • Supports the compilation of market, donor, and audience information to inform planning, ensuring alignment with national, regional and global guidance shared by supervisors.
  • Assists with basic analyses and documentation for fundraising channels and partnership activities, focusing on organizing information and preparing draft summaries.
  • Helps track relevant updates in the external fundraising environment and shares relevant information with the team for senior review.
  • Coordinates with Regional PFP colleagues to ensure timely submission of routine reports, data, and investment documentation.
  • Supports the preparation of draft inputs for the annual workplan and budget, compiling information across individual giving, partnerships, donor pipelines, and routine team processes.
  •  Facilitates coordination with other country office teams by arranging meetings, preparing notes, and collecting necessary documentation for joint efforts related to fundraising and partnerships.
  • Assists in identifying basic operational risks (e.g., delays, data gaps, supplier issues) and reports them to the supervisor for follow‑up.

3. Acquiring, Cultivating and Retaining Individual Donors

  • Supports senior staff by preparing materials, data tables, and documentation related to donor acquisition and supporter engagement activities.
  • Assists with basic coordination of activities across acquisition channels (face-to-face, digital, telemarketing) by tracking deliverables and timelines.
  • Helps maintain records of supplier performance, gathering updates from vendors, and compiling simple summaries for senior staff to review.
  • Ensures accurate data entry, filing, and organization of donor information in line with UNICEF data protection procedures.
  • Supports the team in preparing drafts of donor communications, stewardship messages, or supporter care scripts following established templates

4. Establishing Meaningful Partnerships

  • Assists in identifying potential partners by gathering publicly available information and compiling simple profiles for senior staff review.
  • Helps prepare draft briefing notes, background packages, and meeting documentation for engagement with influencers or businesses.
  • Supports coordination with internal teams (programme, communications) by collecting inputs and ensuring that documents are complete and properly formatted before submission.
  • Provides administrative support in organizing meetings, taking notes, tracking follow‑up actions, and maintaining partner-related files and contact lists.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: University degree in Business Management, Communication, Marketing, International Relations, Social Sciences or related fields is required.
  • Work Experience:
    • A minimum of one year of professional experience in private sector fundraising is required.
    • Familiarity with the private sector is required.
    • Previous managerial experience is essential. 
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in Spanish and English is required. 
  • Skils: 
    • Proven ability to contribute to effective long-term strategic fundraising plans.
    • Proven ability to implement clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and seize new fundraising opportunities, formulating new fundraising strategies and models.
    • Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected challenges and propose countermeasures accordingly.
    • Diplomatic negotiation, influencing and networking skills to establish and maintain trusted partnerships and to develop close and effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.

Desirables:

  • Relevant marketing experience will be considered contributing to this work experience.
  • International fundraising experience is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is an asset. 
  • Knowledge of another UN language or local language of the duty station is considered an asset.
