In the 1970s UNICEF established presence in Yemen to respond to the urgent needs of children in the poorest country in the Middle East. In 1991, Yemen ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and it was enacted immediately.  Since then the country has been making steady progress for children until it plunged into a brutal conflict in 2015 but even before that, Yemen needed large amounts of humanitarian assistance.

In collaboration with local authorities, non-governmental organizations and community partners, UNICEF is working in all the governorates in Yemen to respond to the needs of children throughout the country with a continuum of services to help children survive and grow to their full potential through the following programmes: Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Basic Education, and Child protection.

How can you make a difference? 

As a case-management consultant, team leader, you will be leading the Amman-based CFM team to achieve objectives and execute tasks assigned by the CFM head. Responsibilities include enhancing the capacity of YCO staff on CFM protocols and participating in MIS testing activities.

Your main tasks will be as per the following:

1. Lead the CM team for the process of reviewing data from potential recipients for the new cash project registration.

2. Facilitate and support the team in the redressal of complaints about the registration process.

3.  Identify exceptional cases and led the process of suggesting proper protocols.

4.  Support grievance redressal via the call center.

5.  Assist in building capacity for the implementation partner, SFD.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education:

A university degree. Business administration, human or social studies are preferable.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in customer care and call centre.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Humanitarian projects.
  • Experience working in UNICEF or another UN is an asset.

Language:

  • Arabic with fluency in an understanding and capacity to use a wide number of spoken dialects in Yemen.
  • Understand and capacity to use all the different spoken dialects in Yemen.
  • English with moderate speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
