UNICEF Serbia has positioned itself as a knowledge leader with the capacity to develop and promote children’s rights impact assessment due diligence tools and methodologies related to respect of child rights within business ecosystem. In that respect, UNICEF in Serbia plans to build capacities of the business sector on the business impact on child rights and raise the business sector awareness of how it could be a transformational factor for the achievement of results for children.
In addition, the UNICEF–Swedish EPA partnership has strengthened capacities on air quality governance and data, while mobilizing young people through community action, advocacy and innovation, and strengthening formal education systems. Private sector engagement is key to scaling these efforts, protecting children from climate risks, and expanding opportunities for youth empowerment and green skills development. Therefore, support in this area of work is also needed for UNICEF Regional Climate Team.
Scope of Work:
The consultant will be required to provide:
- Support related to the business sector engagement in Serbia and implement the workplan activities related to child rights and business responsibility (Task 1-3):
- Review and update the mapped business entities to be presented with Child Safeguarding Toolkit for Business and Digital Marketing Toolkit,
- Draft invitation letters for the business entities that will be presented with the CS Toolkit for Business and Digital Marketing Toolkit,
- Make a presentation of the Child Safeguarding Toolkit and Digital Marketing Toolkit for the business entities agreed upon by UNICEF Serbia,
- Draft texts for UNICEF Serbia website to present the above-mentioned Toolkits.
- Technical and writing support to strengthen business sector engagement in support of child-sensitive climate and environmental action, while also increasing the visibility of key results achieved under the UNICEF–SwEPA partnership (Task 4-5):
- Development of private sector proposals for climate and environment actions, tailored value propositions for the countries included under UNICEF-SwEPA partnership,
- Develop visibility materials of the key results of the 4-year UNICEF–SwEPA partnership, including social media deck, presentation, compiled summaries of youth-led and formal education achievements that will contribute stronger stakeholder engagement and UNICEF positioning as the key actor in climate change.
Contract duration: April – June 2026 (up to 36 workdays)
Tasks and Deliverables:
Task 1: Support the capacity building and awareness-raising of the business sector in Serbia to take sustainable action to respect children’s rights in all business activities, and relationships through the national presentation of the Child Safeguarding Toolkit developed by Global UNICEF within two events organized for specific audiences.
Deliverables: Capacity building activities, involving development of one presentation of UNICEF global tool Child Safeguarding Toolkit and recommendations on integration of child rights perspective through business operations. One presentation for the national business networks prepared.

Task 2: Support the capacity building and awareness-raising of the business sector in Serbia to take sustainable action to respect children’s rights in all business activities, and relationships through the national presentation of the Digital Marketing Toolkit developed by global UNICEF.
Deliverables: Two presentations of Digital Marketing Toolkit that will involve leading PR and Marketing agencies in Serbia and the top advertising companies, regulatory bodies, civil society and media.

Task 3: Draft two texts for UNICEF Serbia website to present the Child Safeguarding Toolkit and Digital Marketing Toolkit.

Task 4: Support private sector proposal writing on climate and environment for UNICEF Regional Climate Team.
Deliverables: 10 private sector proposals for companies developed, including multi-country proposals.

Task 5: Support visibility of the key results and final reporting of the UNICEF-SwEPA Partnership programme.
Deliverables:

- Social media deck for communication of the key results of the 4-year UNICEF-SwEPA partnership is developed.
- A compiled summary of youth-led achievements (4 pager) and compiled summary of formal education achievements (4 pager) under the UNICEF–SwEPA partnership (total 8 pages document).
- PPT slide deck with key results of the UNICEF-SWEPA partnership developed.
- Digital engagement report developed for the UNICEF-SWEPA partnership.

Requirements:
- MA in Business Management; majors in corporate responsibility and sustainability are additional asset.
- A PhD degree would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of and min 10 years’ experience within the Child Rights and Business.
- Technical knowledge of UNICEF’s work with the business sector.
- Proficiency in English language skills, reading and writing.
- Fluency in Serbian language.
- Previous collaboration with UNICEF in Serbia and ECARO will be considered as an additional asset.
